Vermont Foodbank

Vermont Foodbank

Distributes food through Vermont network partners

Overview

The Vermont Foodbank is the state’s largest anti-hunger organization. It buys, donations, and distributes food to a network of more than 300 community partners—such as food shelves, meal sites, schools, hospitals, and senior centers—across all 14 counties, using three warehouses in Barre, Brattleboro, and Rutland. Its products work by collecting food from grocery stores, manufacturers, farms, and federal commodities, then sorting and distributing it to partners. It also runs programs like Vermonters Feeding Vermonters (local food purchasing), VT Fresh (produce access and education), and the Community Kitchen Academy (culinary job training). What sets it apart is that it is Vermont’s sole food bank with a broad partner network, direct local sourcing, and a mix of programs, supported by Feeding America and diverse funding. The organization’s goal is to alleviate hunger and improve food security in Vermont while addressing root causes through education and workforce development.
