WeTravel has acquired Tourwriter, a New Zealand software company serving luxury tailor-made tour operators and destination management companies. The deal closed nearly a year after WeTravel's $92 million Series C funding round led by Sapphire Ventures, Left Lane, Base10 and Cross Creek. Tourwriter brings 23 years of expertise, with over $1 billion in itineraries sold in the last two years. The acquisition strengthens both companies' focus on custom travel, where operators design individual trips rather than selling scheduled departures. According to WeTravel's 2026 Annual Trends Report, 56% of operators saw increased interest in custom luxury bookings in 2025. WeTravel's established custom and luxury travel organisers experienced a 16% rise in bookings and 31% increase in dollar volume year-over-year in the first half of 2026. Both platforms will continue operating separately, with WeTravel investing in Tourwriter's development.

Dutch startup WeTravel has raised €9.2 million in Series A funding to scale its AI-powered multi-day travel operations. The investment, from Notion Capital, Newion, and Inovia Capital, will enhance WeTravel's AI features to automate and personalize travel planning, reducing administrative tasks by 30% and increasing conversion rates by 70%. The platform, used by over 10,000 travel businesses, processes $2 billion in bookings annually and assists over 10 million travelers.
