South Korean precision micro-bit manufacturer Neotis has secured 18 billion won ($12.7 million) in strategic investment from Boston-based hedge fund Weiss Asset Management to build a new factory targeting AI semiconductor demand. The facility, scheduled to begin operations in late 2027, will expand the company's micro-bit production capacity. The investment was structured as convertible preferred shares rather than convertible bonds to minimise shareholder dilution, with 662,000 shares issued at 27,199 won each. The shares will be locked up for one year following issuance. Neotis also announced plans to cancel 140,000 treasury shares worth approximately 3.9 billion won. Founded in 2000, Neotis produces ultra-precise drill bits for printed circuit boards used in AI accelerators and semiconductor packaging, holding the leading market share in South Korea.
Rokit Healthcare has raised 62.5 billion won (approximately $45 million) in a Series funding round, with foreign capital accounting for 72% of the total investment. Leading investors include Weiss Asset Management (30 billion won), Oasis Management (7 billion won), Pacific Alliance Group (5 billion won), and LMR (3 billion won). Domestic investors, including NH Investment & Securities, Asem, Anda, GVA, and Milestone Asset Management, contributed 17.5 billion won. The investment, structured as redeemable convertible preferred shares with a one-year lock-up period, aims to minimise short-term share price volatility. The South Korean biotech and regenerative medicine company said the funding marks a turning point in its journey towards becoming a global leader in the sector.
