Viking Therapeutics prices upsized $500M offering of stock and convertible notes

Viking Therapeutics has priced an upsized $500 million concurrent public offering of common stock and convertible senior notes. The clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company will sell 7,857,143 shares at $35.00 per share and $225 million in 2% convertible senior notes due 2032. The offering size was increased from the previously announced $200 million for each component. The notes carry an initial conversion price of approximately $50.75 per share, representing a 45% premium over the public offering price. Viking estimates net proceeds of approximately $258.2 million from the common stock offering and $218 million from the note offering, after deducting underwriting discounts and expenses. The company intends to use proceeds for continued clinical development of its VK2735 and VK3019 programmes, as well as general research and development purposes. Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, Jefferies, Leerink Partners, and William Blair are serving as joint book-running managers.

Based in Atlanta, Nay will support the firm's delivery of comprehensive investment banking services to insurance distribution and other financial services firms. Since 2023, William Blair has completed more than 25 advisory and financing deals in the insurance and financial services sectors, unlocking more than $30 billion in value for clients. "Throughout his career as both an investment banker and corporate M&A strategist, Bill has delivered exceptional results to clients and management teams," said Britt Trukenbrod, managing director and head of Tech Enabled Services investment banking at William Blair. "Bill's deep sector knowledge and relationships with executives, companies, and investors in the insurance sector provide a strong addition to our financial services practice." Nay most recently served as chief acquisition officer (CAO) for Galway Holdings, a leading financial services, insurance distribution, and wealth management platform. In addition, he served as CAO for EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants, Galway's retail brokerage subsidiary. Before Galway, Nay spent 16 years as an insurance sector banker with SunTrust Robinson Humphrey (now Truist), where he was responsible for origination and execution of M&A and capital raising transactions across a comprehensive range of companies in the insurance, insurtech, and fintech spaces. He received a Bachelor of Administration in finance from University of Georgia's Terry College of Business. William Blair Investment Management has launched its fourth SICAV fund in Taiwan, expanding beyond US equities and hard-currency debt. The new William Blair Emerging Markets Debt Local Currency SICAV Fund focuses on local currencies and interest rates across emerging economies. The emerging markets debt team manages approximately $1.2 billion as of June 2026. The actively managed strategy combines macroeconomic analysis with country and security selection, without benchmark constraints. William Blair sees attractive opportunities in local-currency emerging markets debt due to stronger policy frameworks, attractive real interest rates, and favourable growth prospects in many emerging economies. The fund is managed by Marcelo Assalin and Lewis Jones. William Blair Investment Management has appointed Chandan Khanna as co-portfolio manager. 23 July 2026 William Blair Investment Management (IM) has announced the launch of the Global Leaders Select strategy, with the appointment of Chandan Khanna as co-portfolio manager alongside Hugo Scott-Gall, head of William Blair's global equity team. The Global Leaders Select strategy is a concentrated portfolio of 25-35 leading global companies which combine quality and growth characteristics. The strategy is benchmark-agnostic and aims to deliver strong long-term returns for investors through conviction, concentration, and compounding. While Global Leaders Select is a newly launched strategy, Khanna has a five-year track record of delivering strong performance with a similar approach, according to a statement by William Blair IM. Khanna (pictured) has more than 15 years of experience as a public equity investor. Most recently, he was senior partner and portfolio manager at Eighteen48 Partners, managing the Sixteen02 Global Equity Fund.
