(WAVY) - As part of Wounded Warrior Project's Soldier Ride 250 cycling event, veterans will be riding into Hampton Roads on May 21 and May 22, according to a press release. Presented by NFL Salute to Service, and spanning from May 14 to May 29, Soldier Ride 250 will bring together four groups comprised of 20 veterans each from across the country. The event is intended to display the healing effect that cycling has on veterans' physical, mental and emotional health. The groups will be cycling 250 miles each for a combined 1,000-mile journey, heading from the organization's headquarters in Jacksonville, FL to Firehouse 10 near Ground Zero in New York City. 20 cyclists will be arriving to Portsmouth between 3:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. on May 21, and 20 more cyclists will be riding from Norfolk to Williamsburg on May 22.
