Y Tree, a technology-focused wealth management firm founded by two former Goldman Sachs bankers, has raised over £10 million in a funding round largely backed by its own clients. Previous investors include City figures Simon Robey, co-founder of Robey Warshaw, former Diageo boss Paul Walsh, and former Tesco finance chief Alan Stewart. The company claims to use technology to provide analysis and advice to wealthy clients, positioning itself to disrupt traditional wealth management. Y Tree argues that over 84% of wealth managers persistently underperform, costing clients hundreds of thousands of pounds annually in losses. The fundraising will support Y Tree's expansion as it challenges what it describes as a culture of "serial underperformance" in the sector.
