Overview

YMCA of Greater Seattle is a community nonprofit that runs fitness branches, child care and youth programs for families across King and south Snohomish counties. Its Social Impact Center operates shelter, housing and job training for young people facing homelessness or leaving foster care, plus counseling for all ages. Children attend its early education centers and before- and after-school programs, and in summer they go to day camps or overnight camps on the Key Peninsula and Orcas Island. Membership and program fees fund the branches and help pay for other programs, while donations and government grants cover much of its youth and social work and financial aid for families. Founded in 1876, it is headquartered in Seattle, Washington.
