Yerba Madre, the US category leader in yerba mate, has appointed Steve Lesnard as chief executive officer, effective 20 July 2026. Lesnard, who previously served on the company's board of directors, succeeds Ben Mand, who led the company through operational transformation. Under Mand's leadership, Yerba Madre overhauled its supply chain, shifted from self-distribution to regional partnerships, and rebranded from Guayakí to Yerba Madre. Mand will continue as an advisor to the board. The Oakland and Los Angeles-based company produces organic, regeneratively grown yerba mate and works to restore the South American Atlantic Forest whilst supporting local harvesters and communities. Emily White, chairman of the board, said Lesnard's experience building and scaling brands made him the right choice to accelerate growth.
