ZOLTEK

ZOLTEK

Produces commercial-grade carbon fiber for industries

Overview

Zoltek produces carbon fiber at industrial scale to offer lower-cost, commercial-grade fibers. The product is made by turning acrylic fiber and other precursors into carbon fiber through high-temperature processing, creating lightweight, high-strength material used in composites. It differentiates itself by large-scale production and vertical integration of raw materials (acquiring Magyar Viscosa and Stackpole Fibers) to cut costs, and it became part of Toray Industries to access a global supply network. The goal is to make carbon fiber affordable for broad markets and to grow as a major supplier in the composites industry.
