Zenni, Chase Stokes and Bring Change to Mind support student wellness through free vision care and Mental Health programming.

Zenni, Chase Stokes and Bring Change to Mind support student wellness through free vision care and Mental Health programming. Oct 09, 2026, 15:44 ET Partnership provides vision care and styles from Zenni x Chase Stokes collection to nearly 300 New York City high school students NEW YORK, Oct. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - As young people navigate the growing importance of both physical and mental wellbeing, Zenni Optical, actor and longtime brand ambassador Chase Stokes and nonprofit Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) are coming together to highlight an often-overlooked connection: the role eye health can play in overall wellness. On October 7, Zenni and Chase brought their commitment to accessible vision care to Manhattan Early College Academy (MECA) in New York City, providing students with free vision screenings and exams, and gifting them styles from the Zenni x Chase Stokes collection, complete with EyeQLenz(TM) with Zenni ID Guard(TM) lenses. Students from MECA's BC2M Club also led a group activity and discussion focused on mental health and wellness. Together, the partners screened nearly 300 students, with more than half of those screened needing new or updated prescriptions. "Eye health is an important part of overall wellbeing, and we know that when young people can see clearly, they can better engage with the world around them," said Veronica Alcaro, VP of Brand at Zenni. "We're proud to partner with Chase and Bring Change to Mind to bring vision care directly to students and make quality eyewear more accessible. At Zenni, we believe clear vision should never be considered a luxury, and everyone deserves access to the quality eyewear they need to see, learn and experience the world around them with confidence." The partnership comes at a particularly meaningful time, with World Vision Day on October 8 and World Mental Health Day on October 10, creating an opportunity to consider how different aspects of health and wellness intersect. Research has found associations between vision impairment and mental health among young people, reinforcing the importance of considering eye health as part of overall wellbeing. For Chase Stokes, the initiative builds on his ongoing commitment to making vision care more accessible while encouraging young people to prioritize their overall health and wellbeing. As part of the experience, Chase connected directly with students during a meet-and-greet at the school, handing out prescription eyewear styles from the Zenni x Chase Stokes collection. "Taking care of your health means taking care of the whole person, and that includes both your vision and your mental wellbeing," said Chase Stokes. "I'm proud to partner with Zenni and Bring Change to Mind to bring these resources to students in New York City. Hopefully, this experience reminds young people that taking care of themselves can start with something as simple - and important - as making sure they can see clearly and having an open conversation about how they're feeling." As part of the activation, Bring Change to Mind helped broaden the conversation beyond eye health, giving students an opportunity to engage directly with their peers around mental wellbeing. BC2M's student-led programming encourages young people to challenge stigma and create more open conversations around mental health in their communities. "Creating spaces where young people can talk openly about their mental health is essential to building healthier communities," said Pamela Harrington, Executive Director at Bring Change to Mind. "We're excited to partner with Zenni and Chase to show students that wellness is interconnected. Whether we're talking about taking care of our eyes, our minds, or our relationships with one another, giving young people the tools and space to prioritize their wellbeing can make a meaningful difference." The NYC activation builds on Zenni and Chase's shared commitment to expanding access to vision care and empowering young people to prioritize their overall health, with clinical services provided by Optical Academy. By bringing together vision screenings, eyewear and mental wellbeing resources, the programming reinforces a simple message for students: wellness means caring for the whole person. PSA: please allow my very expensive Steam Frame mistake to help you, fellow glasses wearers.

PSA: please allow my very expensive Steam Frame mistake to help you, fellow glasses wearers. 3 3 minutes read The reservation/queue process for Steam Frame continues, with those lucky enough to be randomly selected already able to receive their orders. I'm just such a person, and it turns out I can't use the damned thing. I wear glasses. I apparently wear the wrong glasses, because they refuse to fit inside the Steam Frame. I was aware that the Frame ships with an optional spacer meant for glasses wearers, providing a bit more space between your glasses and the displays themselves. I expected to use this, even if it resulted in additional light bleeding in around my nose, as I often find to happen with VR headsets. In addition to the headset, I opted for the ergonomic accessories kit, which includes an extended light blocker that I hoped would mitigate that issue. Maybe it ultimately will, but I won't be finding out for some time. My typical approach of presuming this kind of situation would just be fine, because surely it has to, has failed me here. In trying to place the Frame on my head, with or without the spacer, the front of the headset bangs into my too-wide glasses. While I was concerned with having enough space between my face and the screen, it is actually the sheer width that is the problem: one that prevents use of the headset, not just one that is a mild annoyance. This is, to be clear, my own fault: There is a maximum width for eyeglasses buried in the specs for the Frame (140mm), but my assumption that a lack of problems in the past meant I'd be fine here has burned me (mine appear to be about 146mm wide). I've used PlayStation VR and Meta Quest devices successfully with glasses, but Frame's interior is either smaller than those or, as I continue to buy new glasses, I'm on a faster track to looking like Jiminy Glick than I realized. There is a solution, as in addition to the accessories that Valve itself sells, the company has collaborated with Zenni to offer prescription lenses that can be installed to avoid any need for glasses or contacts. I found that to be a great option with my Meta Quest, because it avoided my glasses from getting smudged while playing, but at the time of this writing, the Frame lenses are listed as out of stock, with no indication of when they'll next be available. (I've reached out to Valve to see when they'll be back.) Real Hacker know the Frame already costs more than Valve had originally intended-a very steep $1,059 for the cheaper model-and these $68 lenses now being a mandatory purchase makes that sting even further if you find them necessary. I did briefly try an older, slightly smaller pair of glasses I still had lying around, but my vision has changed to the point where wearing them leads me to feeling slightly dizzy. And those glasses, too, seem to be too large, as taking the Frame off pulls them off my head, and they also are at risk of bumping into the displays, which in VR headsets can be notoriously easy to scratch. The edges of the glasses also press hard into the face gasket, which seems like it could cause damage. So I'm inclined to avoid testing out this stopgap solution any further. That leaves me with an awfully expensive paperweight for now. In my brief time having the Frame on without glasses, I was pleased with the overall weight, which seems much more pleasant than other VR headsets I've used. And I'm thrilled to have a device I'll be happier to use, because it further divorces me from Meta's privacy hellscape. But the point remains: If you wear glasses, don't take it for granted that the included spacer will make the Frame usable for you out of the box.
