Zentro

MDU-focused ISP delivering symmetrical multi-gig

Overview

Zentro is a fiber internet provider focused on multifamily (MDU) communities and commercial clients. It serves over 130,000 subscribers across 20+ major metro markets in the U.S. by delivering symmetrical multi-gig fiber connections, typically through partnerships with MDUs. The service works by installing fiber to buildings and offering high-speed, upload-and-download symmetric internet plans suitable for large buildings and business needs. What sets Zentro apart is its independence (not tied to a single national carrier), a targeted MDU focus, and a rapid growth footprint across many large markets with a specialization in delivering consistent, high-capacity connections to multi-tenant properties. The company’s goal is to expand its nationwide MDU footprint and provide reliable, scalable fiber connectivity to residential and commercial customers across additional markets.

Author Capital exits Zentro Internet after transforming regional ISP into national broadband platform

Author Capital Partners has exited its investment in Zentro Internet, one of the largest independent internet service providers focused on multiple dwelling units in the United States. The Chicago-based firm partnered with Zentro's co-founders in 2021 to transform SilverIP Communications from a regional Chicago ISP into a national broadband platform. During Author Capital's investment period, the company executed several strategic acquisitions, including merging SilverIP with Everywhere Wireless to create the Zentro Internet brand. Subsequent acquisitions of BAI Connect, Snip Internet and select GigaMonster Networks assets expanded operations into over 15 markets. Zentro now serves over 120,000 residents across properties in 20 major metro markets, delivering connectivity solutions including symmetrical 10 Gig internet and managed Wi-Fi over a hybrid fibre network.

TRAI Cracks Down on Mobile Recharge Plans The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is moving to end the widely criticized 28-day mobile recharge plans offered by telecom operators. These plans effectively make users pay for 13 recharges in a year instead of 12, sparking concerns over unfair pricing. The issue has also been raised in Parliament, where questions were asked about the transparency of such billing practices. Many consumers argue that reducing a standard month to 28 days leads to hidden extra costs. Meanwhile, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) continues to provide plans with full one-month validity, highlighting the contrast in industry practices. Broadband Boom: Zentro Lands $240 mn Deal to Accelerate High-Speed Expansion Zentro Internet has closed its inaugural $240 million asset-backed securitization (ABS), marking one of the largest financings in the multifamily broadband sector. The deal, backed by investment-grade ratings, saw strong demand from institutional investors and was oversubscribed. The issuance includes Class A-2 and Class B notes at fixed rates, helping improve the company's cost structure and financial flexibility. Backed by M|C Partners, Zentro plans to use the proceeds to accelerate expansion of its high-speed, multi-gig internet services across major U.S. metropolitan markets, strengthening its position in the growing multifamily connectivity space. CBI Raids Reliance Telecom in ₹115 Crore SBI Fraud Probe India's Central Bureau of Investigation has conducted searches in Mumbai at premises linked to Reliance Telecom and its former directors over an alleged ₹114.98 crore fraud involving State Bank of India. The agency registered a FIR against ex-directors Satish Seth and Gautam B. Doshi, along with unidentified officials, on charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, and misconduct. The case originates from an SBI complaint over losses tied to a ₹735 crore loan sanctioned by a consortium of 11 banks, raising concerns about alleged diversion and misuse of funds. SHAFANA FAZAL

Zentro Internet closes $240M ABS, largest in US multifamily broadband sector

Zentro Internet, a major US multifamily-focused internet service provider backed by M|C Partners, has closed a $240 million asset-backed securitisation, the largest ABS in the multifamily broadband sector to date. The investment-grade transaction was oversubscribed, attracting strong interest from asset managers, insurance companies and credit funds. The financing included solely investment-grade Class A-2 and Class B notes issued to leading institutional investors at a fixed rate. Proceeds will strengthen Zentro's capital structure and support organic network expansion and strategic acquisitions whilst lowering the company's overall cost of capital. Founded in 2009, Zentro delivers symmetrical multi-gig internet solutions across 20 major US metro markets. Houlihan Lokey acted as sole structuring agent and placement agent, with Kirkland & Ellis serving as legal counsel.
