Zonar, a smart fleet management and safety solutions provider, has launched a reimagined Bus Suite web portal for K–12 school transportation teams. The platform centralises GPS fleet tracking, routing, dispatch, student ridership, field trip management and parent communication in one system. New features include a Field Trip Module that streamlines trip requests and approvals, a Route Utilisation Dashboard with AI-suggested schedule adjustments based on actual route history, and an improved Live Map for real-time visibility of all active routes. According to Zonar's 2026 State of Student Transportation report, 75% of districts cited hiring and retaining drivers as their top operational challenge. The platform aims to help districts manage operations with fewer drivers and tighter budgets whilst maintaining service quality and student safety.
Zonar has become the first telematics provider certified by the California Air Resources Board to support Clean Truck Check compliance through OEM-installed vehicle integrations. The certification allows fleets with factory-installed Zonar V4 telematics devices to meet emissions requirements without additional hardware or downtime. The solution covers approximately 400,000 Freightliner Cascadia, Thomas Built Buses and Western Star trucks already equipped with Zonar devices. Unlike traditional compliance methods requiring manual scans or third-party providers, Zonar's system automatically collects and submits emissions data to CARB. California's Clean Truck Check regulation requires non-petrol vehicles over 14,000 pounds operating in the state to submit emissions data on a recurring schedule, increasing to four checks annually from 2027. Zonar is the only provider whose CARB executive order permits compliance via hardwired vehicle harness.

Zonar acquires ez enRoute and launches Bus Suite to modernize student transportation.
Zonar, a leader in commercial vehicle fleet health and safety, announced the launch of Zonar Ignition(TM), a next-generation cloud-based fleet management platform designed to replace the industry's fragmented legacy systems with unified, real-time insights.
