About the role

As a Staff AI Scientist, you will positively impact customers by utilizing machine learning (ML) applications and will contribute to the organization's success by providing technical guidance, leadership, and expertise in Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Deep Learning.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to building ASR and Speech LLM models and associated services

• Lead and contribute to the building and modification (fine-tuning) of pre-trained enterprise-grade LLMs and multi-modal models

• Conduct scientific evaluations of  NLP/LLM models, innovate new techniques for model validation, evaluation, trust, and safety

• Apply preference optimization techniques, including reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF), to train and fine-tune multi-modal models, ensuring trust and safety in their deployment

• Engineer LLMs with the ability to seamlessly integrate with other tools and APIs

• Specify guidelines and design annotation processes for training and evaluation data

• Collaborate with the data team on data pre-processing, consumption, and automated/manual annotations

• Collaborate with the product team to define and refine requirements for new features and applications of AI

• Lead projects independently, providing mentorship and guidance to other team members

• Work collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment, cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Marketing, and Customer Solutions teams

• Research and assess the scientific literature for solutions to company needs, and compare prior work to internal solutions; stay up to date with larger trends in the field

• Published  in peer-reviewed machine learning venues (e.g. NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, EMNLP, KDD, ICASSP, InterSpeech, CVPR, AAAI etc.)

Qualifications & Skills

• PhD plus 3 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields plus minimum of 5 years relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related experience plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience

• Minimum of 4 years of industry experience in artificial intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Vision and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR)

• In-depth knowledge of deep learning (DL) with expertise in PyTorch/TensorFlow

• In-depth understanding of Transformers, hands-on experience with the Hugging Face library, and the ability to solve NLP and ASR problems using LLMs

• Experience working with large datasets, addressing quality issues, and interpreting data with a focus on business goals

• Expertise in Python programming

• Hands-on experience in developing production-ready, scalable code

• Ability to lead projects independently and mentor and guide other team members

• Knowledge of deployment using environments such as: Docker, AWS, or Kubernetes
