Requirements
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or certification such as Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant; alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Emergency Medical Technician certification, or five years of continuous Medical Assistant experience.
  • Ability to travel to all locations within the specified region and occasionally cover offices outside the normal coverage area.
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical records is preferred.
  • Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and ensure their comfort during visits.
  • Assist with patient intake by recording vital signs, updating medical history, and verifying insurance information.
  • Prepare patients for physician examinations by anticipating their needs and ensuring examination rooms are clean, stocked, and organized.
  • Use the operating system to manage patient records and appointments.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and enter patient histories and medications into charts, ensuring allergies are prominently displayed.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, following up on test results, and managing patient inquiries; provide results by telephone at the physician's discretion.
  • Maintain patient flow in examination rooms, explain tests and procedures to patients, and inform doctors of schedule delays.
  • Keep examination rooms clean and properly stocked while maintaining a sterile environment for patient care.
  • Control hazardous waste, perform routine equipment maintenance, and manage medical equipment.
  • Check medications for expiration dates and order replacements when needed.
  • Assist with office surgical procedures, postoperative care, and testing under medical direction.
  • Pre-certify necessary procedures, including CT scans, MRI scans, and office procedures, by verifying insurance eligibility, deductibles, copayments, service coverage, and precertification numbers for billing.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, colleagues, and supervisors, verbally and in writing.
  • Assist with training newly hired Medical Assistants.
