About the company

Shake Shack operates a modern, premium fast-casual restaurant concept centered on high-quality burgers, fries, shakes, and frozen custard. It started from a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park and now runs company-operated restaurants with a significant licensing partner model to support global growth. Its food relies on 100% all-natural Angus beef, hormone- and antibiotic-free meat, cage-free chicken, and localized menu items that cater to different markets. The business makes money mainly through company-owned locations, with licensing fees from domestic and international partners. Shake Shack differentiates itself by offering better ingredients and “enlightened hospitality” in a casual, neighborhood-friendly setting, combining restaurant-quality food with accessible prices. Its goal is to expand its footprint worldwide while maintaining a community-focused, premium dining experience.

Verrado Marketplace announces next wave of retail, dining and entertainment openings through end of 2026.

Verrado Marketplace announces next wave of retail, dining and entertainment openings through end of 2026. Safeway, Harkins Verrado Theatres and BackLot, Shake Shack, BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse and more set to open at Buckeye's new 500,000-square-foot destination. Published Date: October 9, 2026, 6:25 AM EDT Vestar, one of the largest privately held shopping center owners and managers in the western United States, is continuing the rollout of Verrado Marketplace, the new 500,000-square-foot retail and lifestyle destination serving Buckeye and the West Valley, with a growing lineup of retailers, restaurants, services and entertainment concepts opening through the remainder of 2026. Shops opening this September include Gap Factory, Just Sports, Paramount Hair & Extensions, Pacific Dental Services, and Zara Nails & Spa, followed by several highly anticipated restaurants, retailers and entertainment concepts this fall and winter. "We're excited to see Verrado Marketplace continue coming to life as new retailers, restaurants and services open their doors," said Harrison Cole, leasing and development manager at Vestar in a statement. "The response from the Buckeye and greater West Valley community has been extremely positive, and this next phase of openings will bring even more of the shopping, dining, entertainment and everyday conveniences residents have been looking forward to. With several major concepts still to come, there is a lot more excitement ahead." The momentum will continue this fall with the highly anticipated debut of The District on October 15. SALT, Handel's Homemade Ice Cream and Shake Shack will open first. Emersa, a new speakeasy concept inspired by the wonder of observatories and immersive technology, is expected to debut in November. The space will feature 4K VR displays, projection mapping, light, sound, and atmosphere to transform guests into shifting universes for a unique cocktail lounge experience. Also opening in November is another anchor tenant, Safeway, bringing a 63,500-square-foot full-service grocery option to the development. Verrado Marketplace will close out the year with Harkins Verrado Theatres and BackLot, a 65,000-square-foot theatre and entertainment destination as well as OHSO Brewery & Distillery, BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, and Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Once complete, Verrado Marketplace will feature more than 55 retailers and businesses, including a curated mix of national and local brands, chef-driven restaurants, services, and entertainment options designed to serve the rapidly growing West Valley. Designed as more than a shopping center, Verrado Marketplace will serve as a community gathering place with outdoor amenities including a splash pad, live performance stage with a large video screen and a half-acre community green surrounded by restaurants and gathering spaces. The center will also introduce Vestar's Sip & Stroll program, allowing guests 21 and older to enjoy alcoholic beverages in designated common areas. Regular programming, including live music, holiday celebrations, and community events, will activate the property throughout the year. Located at the northeast corner of Interstate 10 and Verrado Way, Verrado Marketplace sits at the entrance to DMB Associates' 8,800-acre Verrado master-planned community. With a $275 million total investment, the development is projected to generate more than $50 million in tax revenue for the city of Buckeye, contribute an estimated $1.8 billion in economic output over the next 10 years and create more than 1,500 permanent jobs in the West Valley. Shake Shack and Dutch Bros coffee are coming to Pinellas Park.

Shake Shack and Dutch Bros coffee are coming to Pinellas Park. Plans filed with the city show the two chains proposed for neighboring lots at 6994 U.S. Highway 19 North, across from The Shoppes at Park Place and next to a future EōS Fitness Center. The 1.83-acre property is currently home to a Walgreens, which would be demolished to make way for the two new buildings. Shake Shack would occupy a 3,493-square-foot restaurant at the corner of 70th Avenue North and U.S. Highway 19 North, while Dutch Bros would open a 1,025-square-foot coffee shop directly across from it. Both locations are planned with two-lane drive-thrus. Shake Shack would include indoor seating, while Dutch Bros would operate solely through its drive-thru and walk-up window. Drive-thrus are a newer addition to Shake Shack's business model; the company started adding them to new locations in 2021. As of last year, the company only had 39 locations with drive-thru lanes. Shake Shack began as a hot dog cart in New York City's Madison Square Park in 2001 before opening its first permanent location there in 2004. The chain has since grown to more than 690 locations worldwide, including more than 445 in the United States. The Pinellas Park restaurant would become the company's fourth Tampa Bay-area location, joining Shake Shacks at International Plaza and Midtown Tampa, as well as a drive-thru location in Wesley Chapel. The chain is also planning a restaurant at Seminole City Center in Seminole, where it would take over the former Pieology Pizzeria space. Dutch Bros was founded in 1992 by brothers Dane and Travis Boersma, who began selling coffee from a pushcart in Grants Pass, Oregon. The drive-thru beverage chain now has more than 1,200 locations nationwide. The company opened its first Pinellas County location in Largo late last year and has since opened a South Tampa shop. Additional Dutch Bros locations are proposed near Tyrone and in Seminole. The project still requires city approval before construction can begin. The Pinellas Park Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the project during its October 1st meeting. The proposed project will go before City Council in November for final approval.
