- Graduate of an approved registered nurse school of nursing with a current North Carolina registered nurse license or registered nurse multi-state licensure privilege through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
- A Bachelor's degree is required.
- A Master's degree in Nursing or a related field is required.
- At least five years of nursing experience in women's and children's services, including labor and delivery and neonatal intensive care unit experience, is required.
- At least three years of experience as a Clinical Director or equivalent management experience in women's and children's services is required.
- Plan and direct the development, administration, and evaluation of the nursing clinical service operating and capital budgets for the areas of responsibility, with accountability for sound fiscal management.
- Plan, implement, market, and evaluate new services in conjunction with the Service Line and other applicable services.
- Assure that all areas of responsibility are staffed according to approved standards and requirements.
- Assure patient and family education with documentation in the medical record.
- Assure staff orientation according to established standards and staff development with demonstrated outcomes.
- Conduct departmental meetings according to policy.
- Supervise personnel selection, termination, disciplinary, and evaluation processes.
- Interview, employ, and evaluate persons in positions directly accountable to the Administrative Director.
- Confer with the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer before final decisions on direct-report new hires, evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Maintain visibility and accessibility to staff and medical staff and implement proactive actions to support positive staff and medical staff relations.
- Demonstrate positive recruitment and retention outcomes.
- Develop and implement procedures that meet regulatory body standards, including periodic review of policies, standards of care, and guidelines.
- Assure current licensure for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses and current listing cards for nursing assistants.
- Use comparative reports to obtain 90th-percentile status in quality, staffing, customer relations, and financial areas.
- Assure the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality, risk management, and customer relations programs in conjunction with the Service Line.
- Make timely decisions that consider impacts on patient care, financial resources, employee relations, public image, and departmental concerns.
- Rotate FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital call.
- Accept responsibility for Patient Care Services as delegated by the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer.
- Assure an on-call administrative person for clinical areas 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
- Represent Nursing and Patient Care Administration at departmental meetings as delegated.
- Ensure availability and accessibility by making rounds on all three shifts.
- Certification in Nursing Administration or a clinical specialty is preferred.
