- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is required.
- At least eight years of professional software engineering experience is required.
- A proven track record of leading complex, cross-team engineering initiatives is required.
- Deep expertise in at least one of distributed systems, cloud platforms, or large-scale data systems is required.
- Strong programming skills in at least one major backend language are required.
- Strong system-design and architecture skills are required.
- Demonstrated mentorship and technical leadership of senior engineers are required.
- A strong understanding of operational excellence, reliability, and observability is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- A track record of influencing engineering culture and standards is required.
- Provide deep technical leadership across multiple teams and drive the design and execution of complex, cross-cutting engineering initiatives.
- Serve as a key technical voice in shaping architecture, raising engineering standards, and helping the organization deliver technical roadmaps.
- Work with product, design, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to translate ambiguous requirements into well-engineered solutions.
- Raise engineering standards through code review, design review, and mentorship of more junior engineers.
- Ship meaningful work that performs reliably in production.
- Experience driving multi-year platform modernization initiatives.
- Public technical contributions such as talks, papers, or open-source software in relevant areas.
- Hands-on experience operating large-scale production systems.
- Exposure to building engineering organizations as well as platforms.
- Familiarity with FinOps and cost-aware engineering practices.
