Onesemo was invited to cook at the prestigious Adelaide event, bringing a taste of Samoa to South Australia's milestone night for the restaurant industry on October 14. He appeared alongside chef Alvin Leung of Hong Kong's Two MICHELIN Star restaurant Bo Innovation, as well as South Australian chefs Alanna Sapwell of Esmay, Dan Moss of Skillogalee Barrel House and Duncan Welgemoed of Africola. The invitation follows Onesemo's involvement in New Zealand's inaugural MICHELIN ceremony in June, where Auckland restaurant TALA was awarded One MICHELIN Star and Onesemo and his team prepared dishes for guests. "It is enabling us to create a tourism destination and put us on the world map," she said. The move follows Michelin's expansion into New Zealand, which became the first destination in Oceania to feature in the guide in July, agreeing to pay NZ$6.3m (£2.7m; $3.5m) over three years for its inclusion. Created by brothers André and Édouard Michelin in 1900, the guide was originally designed to encourage motorists to travel - ultimately boosting their core business of selling tyres. It offered drivers maps and recommendations for places to eat and stay, before evolving into one of the best-known names in restaurant recognition. Michelin stars were introduced in 1926 and have since become a major distinction for chefs and restaurants around the world. Michelin launches EV Charge for European fleets. Michelin Connected Fleet has introduced Michelin EV Charge, a new charging solution for corporate fleets. In collaboration with Deftpower, the company is consolidating access to over 1.2 million charging points, billing, and telematics data on a single platform. But fleet managers have even more options. For fleet managers, the focus is on simplifying cost control. Michelin promises transparent pricing without additional network fees and, in certain cases, negotiated tariffs. This enables companies to centrally capture and better manage the costs of public charging across different networks. However, the core approach goes beyond classic charging roaming. Michelin EV Charge automatically links charging data with vehicle and telematics data already captured via MyConnectedFleet. This makes it possible for Fleet managers to receive a unified overview of trips, energy consumption, charging statuses, and charging behaviour and identify particularly expensive or inefficient charging processes. The application then makes recommendations for more cost-effective charging practices. Michelin aims to make energy costs - and thus the Total Cost of Ownership of electric fleets - more controllable. Sophie Foucque, CEO of Michelin Connected Fleet, explains that Michelin EV Charge is more than a simple charging solution: "By aggregating charging data with fleet vehicle data, we give companies a more detailed insight into vehicle usage and actionable solutions for bringing energy costs down," she explains. "This new solution gives us more leverage to support fleet managers at each step of their transition to a more sustainable form of mobility by reconciling operational performance and cost control." The technical foundation of Michelin EV Charge is Deftpower's MSP-2.0 platform. The Dutch company offers its technology as a white-label solution for Mobility Service Providers, enabling charging sessions to be initiated, billed, and analysed. Deftpower provides the technical platform. Deftpower also specialises in intelligently controlled charging. The platform is designed to consider a vehicle's expected energy requirements and shift charging sessions to periods when electricity is cheaper or grid demand is lower. In 2025, the company stated that up to two-thirds of a charging session's energy could potentially be shifted away from peak times. In August 2025, Deftpower also secured 12.5 million euros from investors. The capital was earmarked, among other things, for further developing and expanding the charging platform. At that time, the company reported it was already working with more than 40 customers across ten European countries. "Fleet electrification should mean lower costs and less complexity, not more work for drivers and fleet managers," says Deftpower CEO Jacob van Zonneveld. With Michelin Connected Fleet, the platform now gains another major fleet provider as a partner. Michelin points to the growing electrification of commercial fleets. According to the Arval Mobility Observatory Barometer 2026, 57 per cent of surveyed fleets, in Germany, for example, already have electric vehicles, with a further 19 per cent planning to switch to electric vehicles within the next three years. However, as the share of EVs grows, so does the effort required for public charging. Different charging networks, tariffs, and access systems not only complicate usage for drivers but also central cost control. EV Charge within MyConnectedFleet is designed to address this very aspect of fleet electrification. The offering complements Michelin's existing services for electrified fleets. Via MyConnectedFleet, companies can already analyse which vehicles are suitable for electrification based on real-world usage profiles and monitor battery status and range, among other metrics. Beyond Michelin Connected Fleet, the group has long been active in the fleet sector. With Watèa by Michelin, the company has offered comprehensive solutions for the electrification of commercial cars and light commercial vehicles since 2021. Initially focused on battery-electric vehicles, the subscription offering was later expanded to include hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, along with related infrastructure and service solutions. With Michelin EV Charge, the group is now expanding these activities to include a more data-driven approach to public charging.
