Responsibilities
  • Own all finance functions end-to-end, including FP&A, accounting, treasury, controls, tax, audit, and financial reporting.

  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and program leadership to provide financial clarity for fast, sound decisions.
  • Support investor and board materials by producing the metrics, models, and financial narrative that build conviction.
  • Manage the cap table, equity administration, banking relationships, and debt facilities.
  • Build financial models and scenario plans for growth, downside, and acceleration cases.
  • Recruit, hire, and lead a high-caliber finance team as the company scales.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior VP of Finance or CFO experience at a venture-backed hardware or deep tech company.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or another capital-intensive manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience structuring debt, including venture debt, growth debt, asset-backed, equipment, or project-based facilities.
  • Multiple Series B+ closes led or supported.
  • Familiarity with government contracting finance, including DCAA, cost accounting standards, FAR/DFARS, and the financial implications of defense programs.
  • Legal and regulatory exposure, including contract negotiation, compliance frameworks, export controls, or securities matters.
  • Engineering or technical background and the ability to communicate with a hardware engineering organization.
  • MBA.
  • An established network of growth investors, lenders, and finance talent.
  • Experience building a finance team and systems.
  • At least three of the four stated backgrounds: hardware production finance; US Government contracts; debt and equity fluency; and core finance depth. All four backgrounds are considered exceptional.

About the company

Singularity Defense makes affordable, scalable missile interceptors to counter inexpensive drones and munitions. It designs and builds subsystems in-house using commercial components to enable rapid testing and mass production, aiming for automotive‑style output rather than scarce, high‑cost interceptors. The team includes veterans from SpaceX, Tesla, Anduril, Lockheed Martin and Toyota, giving cross‑domain experience and a focus on high‑rate development compared with traditional defense suppliers. Its goal is to scale production for active conflict zones and broader U.S. demand, making effective interceptors more widely available.

What believers are saying

  • July 14, 2026 Series A raised $80 million at a $400 million valuation.
  • LA Business Journal reported production and testing up to eight times monthly.
  • September 23, 2026 hiring for drone pilots and manufacturing engineers shows scaling effort.

What critics are saying

  • No public contract awards exist, so revenue depends on winning Pentagon programs fast.
  • Interceptiors remain in development, leaving Anduril and Raytheon time to outspend.
  • If production slips, the $80 million round becomes a short runway before cash burn.

What makes Singularity Defense unique

  • In-house subsystems and commercial components cut supplier dependence versus legacy primes.
  • Automotive-style assembly and monthly flight tests target volume, not boutique interceptors.
  • July 14, 2026 launch, with Khosla, Felicis, and defense advisers, signals credibility.
