Responsibilities

  • Define goals, stage gates, critical delivery paths, and key deliverables for large-scale programs spanning multiple programs and areas of work, with dependencies, timelines, and resource constraints.
  • Secure commitments for program scope, delivery dates, and resources; manage cross-functional dependencies; resolve ambiguity among business and product strategies; and clarify program strategy and end-to-end technology solutions for teams and leadership.
  • Identify synergies, overlaps, and waste across program tracks, mentor team members, and drive initiatives to improve ways of working.
  • Participate in end-to-end discussions for high-level system-solution design and demonstrate understanding of design choices for scalability, high availability, and performance.
  • Ensure system-contract dependencies are robust and avoid upstream and downstream operational or production issues during development changes.
  • Direct the identification, investigation, reporting, and follow-up resolution of defects and bugs found during testing or after production release.
  • Clarify requirements with engineering teams verbally, in writing, or through diagrams of simple system architecture; translate product-feature requirements into technical designs or details; and understand dependencies among capabilities, software systems, and services.
  • Identify similar capabilities across products for potential software reuse; ensure effective roll-forward and rollback plans for releases; and ensure monitoring, alerting, and operational-excellence frameworks are implemented.
  • Establish end-to-end delivery plans based on impacts and interdependencies among applications, systems, services, infrastructure, and security to support quality outcomes for new initiatives and technology modernization.
  • Identify patterns and solutions that leverage existing capabilities and technology strategies to avoid duplication; translate moderately complex initiative outcomes into system-, platform-, and security-level elements across engineering teams.
  • Propose frameworks, tools, and methodologies to drive automation across initiatives; establish effective launch and post-launch methods by assessing engineering practices for testing, triage, and maintenance; and assist in creating simple, modular, extensible, functional product or solution designs that meet requirements.
  • Extend program plans to include communications, marketing, and field-service-management elements; lead discussions and conduct impact analysis and due diligence to guide build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to implement new processes, automation techniques, and updated ways of working while considering impacts on interdependent domains; research practices across domains and industries to influence product roadmaps.
  • Monitor multiple programs and decompose program performance metrics into project-level measures; identify risks, assess severity and likelihood, develop mitigation plans, and manage issues to unblock programs.
  • Assess and manage impacts across multiple areas of work; escalate issues to stakeholders; ensure effective use of program budgets by aligning teams on high-value work, clear priorities, resources, and dependencies; and ensure staging and testing environments are scaled down after production release.
  • Identify existing work that no longer adds sufficient value; own and drive complex, large-scale program execution lifecycles; and mentor team members on best practices.
  • Reassess and refine roadmaps as conditions change, establish paths to green for at-risk programs, and implement processes and tactics to accelerate timelines.
  • Define, implement, and improve scalable, measurable, repeatable workflows and processes for cross-functional teams; define goals for ambiguous programs and decompose them into parallel subprojects and subprocesses.
  • Simplify concurrent deliverables and manage engineering-team queues across development cycles and testing; define prioritization frameworks for dynamically resequencing a portfolio of initiatives.
  • Communicate program progress and risks, engage core teams to resolve issues, and update broader teams and stakeholders.
  • Adapt communication styles to stakeholder and team-member needs to build consensus and alignment; prepare clear, concise, logically structured reports and materials using relevant data; and provide actionable feedback.
  • Communicate complex information in meetings and written materials; coordinate documents covering program strategy, status, scope, timelines, task planning, action items, risks, issues, dependencies, test planning, rollout planning, and complex changes.
  • Define program success metrics through insight extraction; identify difficult problems and systemic gaps; lead problem-solving for complex and ambiguous issues; challenge assumptions to clarify problems; and coach team members on fact-finding, diagnostic tools, and judgment.
  • Engage program stakeholders on a defined cadence, build stakeholder relationships, and align stakeholders on roles, responsibilities, ways of working, and execution cadence.

  • Drive execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs, developing and communicating plans and priorities, removing barriers, providing resources, setting performance standards, measuring progress, adjusting performance, and developing contingency plans.
  • Provide supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training them, mentoring, assigning duties, building a team-based work environment, establishing performance expectations, conducting regular performance evaluations, recognizing and rewarding performance, and coaching for success and improvement.
  • Promote company policies, procedures, mission, values, and ethics standards by training and directing others in their application, ensuring compliance, and supporting the Open Door Policy.
