L Marks CEO: Jacksonville shifting from unknown city to one 'we should be paying attention to. L Marks CEO: Jacksonville shifting from unknown city to one 'we should be paying attention to (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) - When JAX Hub debuted in May 2025, it was hailed by local leaders as a game changer for the city's push to become a global fintech and innovation center. Months later, financial technology firm Paysafe and the University of North Florida emerged as founding partners of the initiative, spearheaded by London-based corporate innovation firm L Marks. A little more than a year after its launch, not much has visibly changed in Jacksonville. Partnership organizations argue it has. L Marks reviewed more than 600 applications from startups worldwide, each seeking to collaborate with Paysafe in Jacksonville. By February 2026, applications were narrowed to 14 companies that were brought to Northeast Florida for final selections. Four months later, it was slimmed to three startups: JAX Hub's inaugural cohort. The broad idea is straightforward: Link vetted startups with Jacksonville's fintech sector to spur innovation and develop solutions during a 10-week program. From there, the hope is to offshoot the next wave of transformative financial technologies. "The hub provides a network, and the network provides for increased engagement," Paysafe Chief Product Officer Bob Legters said. "That increased engagement provides opportunities for partnerships, for connection - that's the biggest benefit I see for all the local companies." It's too soon to tell what the actual return on investment is for Paysafe, he said. L Marks CEO Daniel Saunders called the financial impact "exceptional." Recently, Paysafe confirmed plans to double its Jacksonville footprint. That expansion will bring its North American headquarters on the Southside to about 78,000 square feet. The company deciding to grow is a win for Jacksonville in the eyes of Saunders, and it's that type of benefit he sees being developed at least in part through JAX Hub. Paysafe may have been the partnership's first partner, but Saunders doesn't intend it to be its last. Based from London and traveling all over the globe, Saunders said he is increasingly hearing from other cities and markets about developing similar programs and using JAX Hub as an example. Through its inaugural cohort, he said UNF students were also heavily involved. As the company looks toward its next partnered company for the program, Saunders already has high hopes for the next generation of entrepreneurs that could potentially spin off. The success of JAX Hub is in its early days. Obviously tangible changes may still be to come for Jacksonville, but L Marks has no intention of slowing its pace. Its goal was to stick Jacksonville on a more global stage, particularly in a state known for cities like Miami and Orlando. Saunders argues he's already seeing that reputational shift. "It started out of 'OK, we don't really know where Jacksonville is, oh it's in Florida? I had no idea,'" he said. "To 'This is actually a city we should be paying attention to and there should be more things happening.'"
Maximilian Günther joins Paysafe Envision for Formula E's GEN4 era. Maximilian Günther will join the Paysafe Envision Formula E Team for the 2026/27 season after leaving DS PENSKE, beginning a new chapter for both driver and team as the championship enters its GEN4 era. The British-based squad will begin the campaign with a new Title Partner and an entirely new driver line-up. Against that backdrop, Günther brings eight seasons of Formula E experience and a proven record at the front of the field, having won seven E-Prix victories. His first win made him Formula E's youngest-ever race winner at the time, a record that was only recently surpassed by Taylor Barnard. That history gives the German a clear performance reference point as he looks to reset after a difficult 2025/26 campaign. Günther finished 18th in the Drivers' standings with 23 points, recording a best result of sixth. The move to Paysafe Envision therefore represents more than a change of team: it is an opportunity to start again with the championship's most advanced car to date. GEN4 raises the performance ceiling. GEN4 is expected to deliver a significant step in outright performance. The car can reach speeds above 335kph, accelerate from 0-100kph in approximately 1.8 seconds and complete 0-200kph in 4.4 seconds - 1.5 seconds faster than its predecessor. In race mode, GEN4 produces 50% more power than the current GEN3 Evo race car. In qualifying mode, it is expected to be an average of 10 seconds faster per lap than GEN3, while ATTACK MODE allows up to 600kW of power - representing a 71% increase in base output over GEN3 Evo. The car is also described as the only single-seater race car with permanent all-wheel drive, underlining the scale of the technical shift facing teams at the start of the new era. For wider context on the series' evolving performance landscape, see its coverage of Formula E's new era. Günther said the team's environment, ambition, mindset and technical package with Jaguar convinced him to join. He believes the partnership has the ingredients to compete at the very top. Paysafe Envision Managing Director and CTO Sylvain Filippi highlighted Günther's qualifying ability, podium finishes and race wins. The team now expects to begin working with him ahead of pre-season testing in November, with Season 13 also bringing a new sporting format and a greater emphasis on outright pace and speed. Paysafe teams with FastSpring on Merchant of Record solution. By PYMNTS | August 26, 2026 Payments platform Paysafe has launched a partnership with Merchant of Record service provider FastSpring. The collaboration, announced Wednesday (Aug. 26), has yielded the launch of Paysafe's new Merchant of Record (MoR) solution, designed to help businesses sell globally without needing to handle many of the operational, regulatory and administrative requirements that come with direct merchant operations. "Businesses want to focus on building great products and serving customers, not navigating the complexities of global commerce," Bob Legters, chief product officer at Paysafe, said in a news release provided to PYMNTS. "Together with FastSpring, we're making it easier for digital businesses to reach customers worldwide through a trusted merchant of record framework." Please add Money By Design to your preferred sources list so its news, data and interviews show up in your feed. Thanks! By serving as the legal seller of record, the solution oversees key responsibilities including tax collection, calculation and remittance, payment localization and regional compliance, and chargeback management, allowing businesses to boost international growth and concentrate on product innovation and customer acquisition, the release added. The solution, which will initially focus on digital-first sectors such as gaming, is designed to offer a "simplified path to global commerce" by melding Paysafe's payments expertise and international reach with FastSpring's merchant of record capabilities, the companies said. "By combining FastSpring's merchant of record expertise with Paysafe's global payments capabilities, we're helping businesses scale internationally more quickly and efficiently," said David Nachman, CEO at FastSpring. Paysafe earlier this week debuted a gaming arena designed to connect gamers, developers and publishers, calling it a "a destination focused on game discovery, rewards and community" where players can uncover new games, access "exclusive" content and promotions, interact with creators and unlock rewards. "We're creating a bridge between gamers and game publishers," Legters said at the time. "The gaming arena combines discovery, community engagement and the seamless purchasing experiences enabled by PaysafeCard and PaysafeWallet to help players find new experiences and help publishers grow their reach." Online gaming has become a key driver of revenue for Paysafe. The company reported quarterly earnings earlier this month showing 17% growth in iGaming for its merchant solutions business with processing volumes jumping more than 25% year over year in June and more than 30% in July. Chief Financial Officer John Crawford specifically cited higher iGaming growth, ongoing strength in Latin American and double-digit active user growth as bolstering the company's outlook for the back half of 2026.
