Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Four years of commercial plumbing experience are required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • The ability to lift or carry 50 pounds is required.
  • A Journeyman Card or North Carolina or South Carolina plumbing license is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 training is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Assemble, install, and pressure-test piping systems, fittings, valves, fixtures, and equipment for heating, water, drainage, and sprinkler systems in accordance with International Plumbing Code requirements and project specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and construction documents to determine plumbing system layouts and installation requirements.
  • Locate, measure, and mark positions for pipe connections, fixtures, supports, and equipment installation.
  • Install and connect plumbing fixtures and equipment, including sinks, lavatories, commodes, water heaters, boilers, water softeners, and related trim components.
  • Install pipe supports, hangers, sleeves, and other system components to ensure proper operation and code compliance.
  • Plan and execute plumbing installations while coordinating with foremen, supervisors, and other trades to meet project schedules and quality standards.
  • Perform pressure testing, leak testing, and system inspections to verify proper installation and functionality.
  • Troubleshoot plumbing issues and determine causes of system deficiencies based on work orders, inspections, or project requirements.
  • Identify required repairs and corrective actions for plumbing systems, building infrastructure, and related equipment.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards throughout all phases of construction.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and efficiently according to company policies and established procedures.
  • Follow company safety policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, including requirements for lifting, climbing, ladder use, and personal protective equipment.
  • Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to apprentices and less experienced team members.
  • Communicate with project leadership regarding progress, challenges, material needs, and jobsite conditions.
  • Participate in inspections and quality-control procedures to ensure installations meet company standards, customer expectations, and code requirements.
