Andrewsen Horowitz (a16z) is a venture capital firm that provides funding and strategic help to startups. It invests across many sectors, including AI, fintech, biotech, crypto, enterprise, consumer, games, and infrastructure, and it supports companies from seed stages through to IPOs. The firm’s product is capital in the form of equity stakes in startups, along with guidance, networks, and operational support to help these companies scale. Unlike many investors who focus on a single niche, a16z combines a very large capital base (about $43 billion in committed capital) with a broad portfolio and a long-term, hands-on approach to backing entrepreneurs, aiming to grow companies that can become industry leaders while delivering strong returns for its investors.

Cognition raises $2B Series E at $48B valuation as revenue nears $900M

Cognition has raised over $2 billion in a Series E round at a $48 billion valuation. Andreessen Horowitz and Accel led the funding, with participation from Founders Fund, General Catalyst, Avenir, and a syndicate including Benchmark, Kleiner Perkins, and NVIDIA. The AI software-engineering company's run-rate revenue grew from $492 million in May 2026 to almost $900 million. Cognition attributed the increase to expanding adoption of Devin, its autonomous software-engineering agent used by NVIDIA, GE Aerospace, Citi, Mercedes-Benz, and Modal. Devin now includes Auto-Triage for incident investigation, Security Swarm for vulnerability detection, and Automations that trigger work from events in Slack, GitHub, and Linear. Founded in 2024, Cognition has opened offices in Washington, Tokyo, Singapore, London, São Paulo, and Madrid over the past year.

Malaysian founder's fashion tech startup Lekondo raises $3M from a16z and others

New York-based fashion technology startup Lekondo has raised approximately $3 million from investors including Verdict Capital, Andreessen Horowitz SR, and DG Daiwa Ventures. The company was founded by Malaysian entrepreneur Yeng Tan. Lekondo's platform enables users to post daily outfits, build digital closets, and discover global fashion trends. Since launching in January 2026, it has attracted over 100,000 users across more than 50 countries. The funding will support platform development and growth. Tan, co-founder and chief executive officer, said Lekondo focuses on actual wearing habits rather than purchasing and browsing behaviour to understand fashion preferences.
