About the job

Requirements
  • At least 6 years of experience in analytics or data engineering, or a closely related role, building and maintaining data models and pipelines.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong SQL and dbt skills, including incremental models and testing.
  • Hands-on Snowflake experience, including semantic modeling.
  • Experience building data quality tests and monitoring that catch issues before stakeholders do.
  • Experience working with product teams, ideally technical teams, to define metrics and scope ambiguous problems.
  • Fluency with AI coding tools such as Claude, and judgment to use, build, and validate AI-generated code.
  • Comfort working in a regulated environment with privacy and compliance requirements.
  • Strong ownership and end-to-end thinking to take a problem from raw data to a trusted metric.
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical partners.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain dbt models and semantic models in Snowflake that provide product teams with a reliable, well-documented view of key metrics.
  • Build pipelines behind the models when needed, from ingestion through transformation, and align with data engineering on shared infrastructure and standards.
  • Build AI-ready data, including semantic models, metric definitions, and documentation that let Cortex and CoWork agents answer business questions accurately.
  • Guide data design decisions with Product and Engineering, including what data is captured, how it is structured, and how it is modeled, so results can be measured from day one.
  • Partner with product managers to turn roadmap goals and feature hypotheses into measurable success metrics.
  • Identify gaps in data collection and drive them to resolution with Product and Engineering.
  • Provide analysis to inform product decisions and evaluate feature performance, including occasional statistical work such as experiment readouts and significance testing.
  • Use AI coding tools and Snowflake Cortex to speed up development, and review, test, and validate AI-generated code and outputs before they ship.
  • Build compliance into designs, including HIPAA considerations and role-based and row-level access controls.
  • Review SQL, dbt, and AI-generated code for correctness and raise the team’s technical standard.
  • Document models, metric definitions, and design decisions so others can build on them.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Snowflake Cortex, CoWork agents, or other LLM-based tooling.
  • Working knowledge of statistics and experimentation.
  • Healthcare, claims, or insurance background; HIPAA familiarity.
  • Python for pipelines or lightweight applications.
  • Fivetran or other ELT experience, including troubleshooting sync and CDC issues.
  • Experience with Tableau or other BI tools.

About the company

Sidecar Health provides health insurance plans, including ACA-compliant options, with a focus on price transparency and empowering members. Members can see the average cash price for medical services upfront, helping them compare costs and choose care. Revenue comes from member premiums, and the company can benefit from the difference between cash prices it negotiates and premiums collected, aiming to offer lower rates than traditional insurer-negotiated prices. A digital member ID card serves as proof of coverage and simplifies scheduling care. The goal is to make healthcare more affordable and transparent by giving members clear price information and straightforward plans.

Sidecar Health guarantees upfront costs for nearly every doctor visit in the US

Sidecar Health now displays guaranteed costs for nearly every doctor visit in the US before members receive care. Members can search for providers in the app and immediately see what their visit will cost, or what they'll earn if the provider charges less than the plan pays. The health insurance company's model assigns every service a Benefit Amount based on local provider prices. If members choose care below that amount, they keep half the savings; if they choose higher-priced care, they pay the difference. The company also displays clinical quality scores powered by Global Appropriateness Measures alongside costs. Sidecar Health operates without networks, referrals or prior authorisations, resulting in a clinical denial rate below 1%, compared to the industry average of 19%. The company serves employers ranging from 51-person shops to major multinationals.

Sidecar Health Expands Quality Transparency For Members With New Clinical Ratings

LOS ANGELES, May 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Sidecar Health, a pioneering consumer-driven health insurance carrier, today announced an enhancement to its member experience with the inclusion of clinical quality scores — deepening its long-standing commitment to empowering members with the information they need to make smarter healthcare decisions. The enhanced quality ratings are powered by data developed by Global Appropriateness Measures (GAM), a physician-led organization born out of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. This new feature builds on Sidecar Health's longstanding commitment to empowering consumers with upfront information about how much care costs — and the fact that higher prices often don't mean better quality. The score appears as a 0.00 to 5.00 rating alongside a provider's profile within the Sidecar Health portal. The scores complement the consumer reviews and cost information already available to Sidecar Health members
