Requirements
  • Proven estimating experience in manufacturing, general construction, or electrical construction is preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with estimating software and tools such as Accubid, Trimble, and Bluebeam.
  • Excellent communication and people skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to think critically.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ability to work in a professional office environment and use standard office equipment.
  • Ability to sit frequently and occasionally kneel, reach, stoop, crouch, or crawl; lift files and bend or stand as necessary; and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to understand project requirements.
  • Identify and assess the scope of work, including the types and quantities of components needed for manufacturing.
  • Use estimating software and tools to calculate the cost of materials, labor, equipment, and other manufacturing resources.
  • Conduct cost analysis based on historical data, market trends, and supplier quotations.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for submission to clients.
  • Perform material takeoffs from blueprints and specifications to determine the quantities of electrical components needed for manufacturing.
  • Create bills of materials and procurement lists for purchasing departments.
  • Coordinate with Production Managers, Engineers, VDC/BIM, Project Managers, external customers, and Purchasing teams to align on project requirements and timelines.
  • Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and lead-time information for electrical materials and components.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with manufacturing projects, including material availability, lead times, and cost fluctuations.
  • Develop mitigation strategies to address risks and ensure project success.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, technological advancements, and market trends related to manufacturing.
  • Recommend process improvements and cost-saving measures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the estimating process.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's or associate's degree in an Engineering discipline such as civil, mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, Construction Management, or a related major.
  • Estimating experience in manufacturing, general construction, or electrical construction.
