Requirements
  • At least 3 years of sales experience, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • A proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales objectives.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • The ability to work independently, listen, adapt, and overcome objections.
  • The ability to embrace change in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the main point of contact for sales, quote, and transactional requests from prospects and clients.
  • Create territory and specific account plans to achieve strategic sales objectives.
  • Understand end-user market trends and industry best practices and apply relevant value propositions to those markets.
  • Report industry trends, competitive pricing and intelligence, and customer feedback to management.
  • Develop, build, and nurture trusting relationships with customers and internal resources.
  • Prospect for, cold call, and qualify new original equipment manufacturer leads.
  • Expand the sales pipeline and manage the sales funnel throughout the sales cycle.
  • Perform product demonstrations by phone, video conference, and occasional customer visits.
  • Own, qualify, and develop opportunities passed from marketing, outside sales, and national accounts.
  • Learn all company products and gain proficiency in using the company product catalog.
  • Explain product features and benefits, provide verbal demonstrations, and describe value propositions and total cost-of-ownership scenarios.
  • Prepare, generate, and follow up on verbal or written quotations to secure orders or determine the reason for a lost order.
  • Increase orders by suggesting related items, identifying new applications, explaining features and benefits, and reviewing customer buying history.
  • Obtain and verify orders, enter items, transfer orders to fulfillment, and monitor stock-outs and expected delivery dates.
  • Use the company customer relationship management, enterprise resource planning, and other business systems daily.
  • Collaborate with internal resources to meet customer expectations and act as a liaison between internal product teams and prospects or clients.
  • Review open customer order reports and act on open items, including items at risk of missing promised delivery dates.
  • Attend training sessions and team meetings.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in business, industrial distribution, engineering or technology, or a related field from an accredited school.
  • Previous industrial automation, cable, or component sales experience.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and/or Epicor.
