What believers are saying

  • September 11, 2026 brought Michael Aiello and five Weil M&A partners to Cravath.
  • Cravath published Q2 2026 quarterly reviews on M&A, capital markets, and corporate governance.
  • August 24, 2026 Valvoline financing expanded Cravath's recent lender-side deal flow.

What critics are saying

  • Reuters reported six partner departures to rivals in 2026 before September 11.
  • That churn weakens client continuity and hands competitors rainmakers in New York.
  • If exits continue, Cravath's elite franchise loses pricing power against Paul Hastings and Sidley.

What makes Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP unique

  • Cravath still dominates elite M&A, evidenced by Paramount's 2026 WBD representation.
  • Its bench attracts marquee lateral talent, including Nicole Argentieri and Andrew Finch in 2026.
  • The firm pairs top-tier finance execution with $4 billion Valero and $600 million Valvoline deals.
