Requirements
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Hold an unencumbered nursing license from within the United States and maintain a Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Education: graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program.
  • Education must be accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Candidate must hold and maintain a Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).
  • Must have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five years.
  • Must have at least three years of experience working with health care facilities in developing revenue enhancement initiatives.
  • Must have three years or more of experience in coding (ICD-10, HCPCS and CPT 4).
  • Must be able to use a computer to communicate via email; proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and related tools and technology required for the position.
  • Work Schedule: eight hours per day between 8:00 am and 6:30 pm Monday through Friday; overtime hours may apply.
  • Location: Ogema, Minnesota; work shall be conducted at or in proximity to Ogema, MN.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required; travel is coordinated with the technical point of contact and approved in writing; travel in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations.
  • Required to meet Indian Health Services educational requirements, including annual security and privacy training.
  • Must be able to submit to and qualify for varying levels of background investigative requirements, up to a Top Secret or DOE "Q" clearance.
  • Standard Personnel Testing/Infection Control: proof of Tuberculosis, Rubella, Varicella, Vaccacellular Pertussis, Influenza, Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps within past year.
Responsibilities
  • Providing a high standard of nursing services in accordance with sound professional nursing principles and adapt services to basic and special needs of patients using the nursing process.
  • Systematically assessing patient care needs through analysis of data gained through interviews with patient and/or family, review of health records, and consultation with physician and other staff.
  • Constantly reassessing needs based on patients' response to medical and nursing regimes.
  • Recognizing the difference between dependent and independent nursing activities and practices accordingly.
  • Carrying out nursing and medical plans as delegated and utilizing critical thinking in setting priorities; initiating appropriate follow-up action to ensure continuity of care.
  • Providing comprehensive nursing care that is appropriate, safe, and timely.
  • Administering therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician such as medications, immunizations, treatments, intravenous fluids, nasogastric suction, irrigations, etc.
  • Setting up, operating, and monitoring specialized equipment and evaluating results.
  • Providing appropriate nursing intervention in all phases of care including initiating appropriate emergency measures.
  • Evaluating nursing care based on established standards and participating in quality assurance activities such as nursing audits, infection control, and nursing care conferences.
  • Providing age-appropriate nursing care for neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
  • Receiving assignments daily from the supervisor or lead nurse.
  • Communicating appropriate information to members of the health care team verbally and in writing in a professional and timely manner via written care plans, nursing services reports, patient records, assignment sheets and participating in physician rounds, patient care conferences and staff meetings.
