Analytics & Data Science Internship
All internships will be conducted in-person. Hosting managers will determine when and how often interns work in the office Monday-Friday (relocation services and living stipend provided to all interns).

Data Analytics at Blizzard – Game Teams: Join our team for a dynamic internship where you’ll tackle a capstone project with tangible impacts on our live games’ outcomes. Your contributions may range from enhancing the in-game economy, analyzing player engagement, to strategizing business models. This is a chance to dive into the real-world challenges of game development and production, offering direct collaboration with product managers and game designers responsible for our games’ diverse features. We’re seeking students passionate about data and video games with the following qualifications:
Enthusiastic about data’s role in shaping the future of video gaming
Proficient in SQL, with Python a plus
Experienced with visualization tools like Tableau, Looker, or Power BI
Skilled in communicating and leveraging analytical insights to drive action
Knowledgeable about AB Testing and personalization processes
Data Science at Blizzard: We are a centralized data science team supporting all game teams, which includes live games like Hearthstone, Overwatch, and WoW, and unannounced game titles. Some of our projects are focused on research to help with game development, like procedural content generation and reinforcement learning for AI. Other projects are about bringing value to Blizzard players and business through areas like game matchmaking, game balancing, and recommendations. We regularly integrate our models directly into the games or through live services that software engineers in our department build. The ultimate goal is to help our game developers build the most epic experiences for our players, and we believe that data science and machine learning can bring a lot of exciting new things to that development.
Specialize in one of the following areas: deep learning, reinforcement learning, computer graphics, recommendation systems, or generative AI (e.g. large language models, diffusion models)
Ability to write robust code in Python.
Database querying (e.g., Big Query)
Experience building and evaluating machine learning or statistical models
Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (like Keras, PyTorch, Tensorflow) and libraries (like scikit-learn).
Proficient in object-oriented programming
Strong written and spoken communication skills
Data Science at Activision: Help develop and operationalize machine learning models that impact Game Operations, Marketing, CRM, and Business Planning. Contribute to the goal of understanding and improving consumer/player experiences.
Programming proficiency in Python and/or R
Knowledge of Spark
Knowledge of data systems, relational databases, querying with SQL
Experience with engineering tools and methods (github, unit testing, continuous integration, etc.)
Experience with machine learning tools (SciKit-Learn, TensorFlow, etc.)
Experience building web frontends (Javascript, JQuery, D3.js, React, etc.)

Data Analytics at Activision: Be a core component of one of the most successful franchises in gaming by working closely with internal teams across Product, Production, User Acquisition, Development, Design, Leadership, and other decision-makers on our games to deliver critical insights to support strategic business and game design.
Expertise in querying with SQL
Expertise in quantitative methods – finding the truth and narrative in the data
Knowledge of data visualization techniques and standard processes
Programming expertise in Python and/or R is preferable
Analytics Engineering at Activision: Be a key component in our data visualization process. Work closely with our Data Analytics, Data Science, and Data Visualization teams to refine our data and make it more accessible.
Expertise in querying with SQL
