Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or another related field is required, although equivalent education, experience, or training may substitute.
  • Three years of related Information Technology work experience and experience with Windows servers and operating systems are required.
  • Hands-on technical knowledge of server and personal computer operating systems, including Active Directory and Windows Servers, is required.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and associated equipment is required, along with general knowledge of storage technologies such as storage area networks.
  • Knowledge of database requirements for high-availability, multifunction environments is required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and the general public is required.
Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain Active Directory, client-server applications, servers, and related clinical department services.
  • Recommend, develop, configure, install, monitor, and support University Hospital server hardware and software for client-server computer systems.
  • Ensure the availability of client-server applications, configure new implementations, and develop processes and procedures for ongoing Active Directory management and maintenance.
  • Maintain the security, integrity, and safety of Active Directory, the data center, and servers.
  • Diagnose, resolve, and document hardware, software, and network problems, and provide end-user training and support where required.
  • Evaluate and install Active Directory, related software, operating system software, and applications.
  • Manage server hardware and software.
  • Analyze Active Directory software and hardware problems, resolve server-related software problems, install and configure local area network servers, administer server security and backup procedures, and participate in software and hardware evaluation.
  • Maintain Active Directory and Group Policy technologies to ensure server security; research server hardware, software, and protocols for procurement and development efforts; and provide recommendations to senior Server Administrators.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and administer server networks, computer workstations, internet connections, and peripheral equipment.
  • Configure, maintain, and operate master consoles to monitor server and network performance and coordinate access to computer networks.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade web-server hardware and software.
  • Deploy and manage virtual machines using VMware vSphere and vCenter templates.
  • Monitor virtual environments, including ESXi host health, CPU and memory resource utilization, and data store capacity.
  • Manage virtual machine snapshots and perform basic provisioning tasks during scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Assist with storage and backup environments and ensure virtual machine backups complete successfully.
  • Assist with enterprise storage management by monitoring fabric connectivity, capacity, and performance indicators across Fibre Channel storage area network environments.
  • Assist senior administrators with routine provisioning tasks, host registration, and health monitoring within Dell PowerMax and Pure Storage management arrays.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting to automate Active Directory tasks and strong knowledge of Group Policy creation.
  • Strong working experience with hardware, server operating systems, Active Directory, and Group Policies.
  • Certification in Microsoft Certified Professional, Microsoft Office Specialist, Microsoft Technology Associate, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate.
