The purpose of this internship is to prepare college students for entry into the business world by providing a thorough understanding of the various functions of the Zebra Technologies organization. The program is designed to provide you with a full experience so that you can fully envision a career with Zebra. You will be positioned for success with training, exposure to all parts of the business, social activities, a professional mentor relationship and development sessions to help you discover your own performance edge!

Handheld Enterprise Mobile Computing is a word class industry leader in mobile computer products, focused on innovating, designing and analyzing, and bringing to production. The EMC handheld Mechanical Engineering team focuses on the latest feature sets and mechanically design techniques to meet the rugged and industrial use cases of our customers. An internship with this team will involve working with the design teams to help develop and verify mechanical designs, while working on efforts to support the activities of the team like benchmarking, design of test, problem solving/issue resolution, new technology investigation, and cross functional integration of design features. Interns will get exposure into the details of mechanical design for mobile computing products as well as the activities and procedures to verify and release those products.

• The Surge (NG TC8) program will be in it's early stages and would look for the intern to support a portion of the design (with oversight from the ME team) to provide them with real world plastics/metal/PCB design experience.
• Working with Mechanical, Electrical, and RF design team to create PCB best design practices and institute them into on-going and future designs.
• To provide good background on design best practices, looking to have them work with the ME design, the Sustaining team, and the Quality team on lessons learned and integrating best practices into our future designs.
• Working with the Antenna team to characterize the effectiveness of NFC antenna capability in different use cases like Payment and RFID.
• Develop planning, organizational and leadership skills
• Increase technology knowledge and skills
• Develop team-based work proficiencies
• Develop interpersonal skills to connect with day-to-day business contacts through follow up activities

THIS IS A HYBRID INTERNSHIP LOCATED IN HOLTSVILLE, NY. THE EXPECTATION IS AT LEAST 3 DAYS OF IN-OFFICE ATTENDANCE.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate/graduate degree program in Mechanical Enginering, or related field. 
• Must have an anticipated graduation date between May 2026- May 2028 
• Must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3D/2D CAD experience. Experience with Creo is a huge plus.
• Experience with electronics packaging
• Multitasking skills / able to keep multiple efforts moving forward
• Strong knowledge of Mechanical engineering principals and assemblies
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)
• Intellectual curiosity with a strong desire to learn and grow
• Proven leadership and excellence in professional, academic, and/or extracurricular experiences
• Ability to collaborate as part of a team
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

Salary: USD 29.00 - USD 40.00 Hourly

Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
