Requirements
  • Graduate from or complete a program that meets eligibility requirements for registry or certification, or currently hold the required registry or certification.
  • For Level I, hold ARRT registration and be able to obtain CT certification within 18 months of employment.
  • For Level II, have at least two years of experience as a CT technologist.
  • For Level III, have at least four years of experience within the specialty modality sought for promotion.
  • Hold certification in Radiography (R), Radiation Therapy (T), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), or CNMT.
  • Obtain registration in Computed Tomography (CT) within 18 months of employment.
  • Hold BLS certification.
  • Meet the essential physical and mental abilities required for the job, subject to reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized tasks associated with operating CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment in accordance with radiation safety procedures.
  • Position patients for CT scans using positioning devices and protective equipment as needed.
  • Perform exams accurately according to established protocols, policies, and patient safety standards.
  • Assist radiologists with imaging procedures, including starting IVs and injecting contrast when applicable.
  • Assist radiologists with interventional CT procedures.
  • Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in exposure sequence, label them appropriately, and film or transmit them to the Image Archival System.
  • Schedule patients for procedures and assist with clerical functions.
  • Charge procedures and supplies in the electronic health record.
  • Dispense or order oral contrast for patients undergoing CT scans.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Orient and train new CT technologists.
  • Provide for patients’ and families’ psychological and physical needs during CT scans.
  • Educate and train student technologists.
  • Coordinate scheduling and patient flow.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast administration.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in performing all exam protocols.
  • Assist with education and training for new physicians, including interns, residents, fellows, and attending physicians, if applicable.
  • Assist radiologists and PhDs in developing facility-specific protocols and CT imaging techniques.
  • Perform CT-specific technical assistance on supervisor-assigned projects, including team lead work, research and development, protocol development, charge reconciliation, and equipment demonstrations.
  • Perform other duties incidental to the work.
