What believers are saying

  • Boyd’s March 12, 2026 divestiture delivered $9.5 billion, strengthening balance-sheet flexibility.
  • Boyd still serves secular-growth markets, including advanced electronics, electric vehicles, and healthcare devices.
  • Boyd’s preserved standalone operations let management sharpen margins, simplify focus, and pursue tuck-in acquisitions.

What critics are saying

  • Eaton’s March 12, 2026 buyout removed Boyd Thermal, slashing Boyd’s most visible AI-growth engine.
  • Boyd’s remaining business depends on fragmented industrial end markets and loses thermal cross-sell leverage.
  • If Goldman Sachs exits without a strategic buyer, Boyd Engineered Materials becomes a carve-out orphan.

What makes Boyd unique

  • Boyd’s engineered materials seals, shields, and insulates across EV, aerospace, and medtech.
  • Goldman Sachs Alternatives backs Boyd Engineered Materials after the March 12, 2026 Thermal sale.
  • Boyd retains segmented R&D and customer teams, preserving application-specific engineering depth.
