Requirements
  • Master of Social Work degree with “C” or “R” designation (LCSW or LCSW-R), doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology (PhD or PsyD), or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), and 3–5 years of work-related experience.
  • Licensed in New York State.
  • Strong interest in embedding clinical services within the culture of academics and the campus community.
  • Professional autonomy and maturity to independently deliver services in a satellite location.
  • Experience with individuals presenting with common clinical issues in college mental health, including suicidality, disordered eating, substance use disorders, depression, anxiety disorders, and trauma.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, verbal, and electronic communication skills, including conveying complex information accessibly to diverse or multicultural audiences.
  • Understanding of and compliance with ethical and legal issues involved in providing clinical services.
  • Ability to advocate for individuals from a broad range of backgrounds.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Ability to manage and carefully maintain confidential and private information and appropriately protect confidential, sensitive, and private records and information.
Responsibilities
  • Provide single-session therapy, short-term individual counseling, group workshops, tailored outreach and programming, referrals, consultation, and additional services as needs arise.
  • Serve as a point of contact for mental health education and prevention strategies across the academic unit or units.
  • Consult with staff and faculty regarding student mental health issues.
  • Collaborate closely with the academic college or school supported and work with professionals within Cornell Health and partners in healthcare, academics, and student support services.
  • Accommodate periodic delivery of outreach services after hours or on weekends.
