Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct the day-to-day activities of outside plant personnel in the operation and maintenance of telecommunications plant and equipment.
  • Train outside plant staff in preventive maintenance, trouble resolution, service order activity, and emergency operations.
  • Perform frequent field checks to ensure crews adhere to established standards and safety requirements.
  • Recommend system improvements and upgrades as needed.
  • Lead day-to-day oversight of installation and maintenance partners supporting all-fiber deployments and service assurance.
  • Ensure contractors meet installation quality, safety, productivity, and customer experience standards.
  • Coordinate work assignments, schedules, and service priorities across new installations, trouble calls, and plant maintenance.
  • Serve as an escalation point for contractor performance, workmanship issues, safety incidents, and customer concerns.
  • Oversee fiber drop installations, inside wiring, optical network terminal placement, splicing, testing, and turn-up activities.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards for aerial and underground fiber placement, splicing, testing, and light-level acceptance.
  • Conduct regular job-site audits and inspections for workmanship, safety compliance, and customer experience.
  • Enforce Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Department of Transportation, and company safety policies, including ladder use, traffic control, and aerial and underground work practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce repeat work, truck rolls, and safety incidents.
  • Partner with Network Engineering, Construction, Customer Experience, Network Operations Center, and Sales Channels.
  • Support onboarding, training, and qualification of new technicians.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights on field performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a fiber-only internet service provider or municipal fiber-to-the-home environment.
  • Knowledge of construction and maintenance workflows for all-fiber networks.
  • Familiarity with field workforce supervision tools, quality-control platforms, or ticketing systems.

GoNetspeed's $4.5M Parlin build: what it means for your crew. GoNetspeed just broke ground on a $4.5 million fiber build in Parlin, New Jersey. Construction is already moving. If you run crews in the Northeast and you're not already talking to this ISP, that's the decision on your desk this week. Who GoNetspeed is and why it matters to your pipeline. GoNetspeed calls itself the Northeast's largest independent fiber internet provider. That's not a small claim. Independent ISPs at that scale move faster than the big telcos. They don't run every build through six layers of procurement. They pick contractors who can perform and keep them busy. A $4.5 million project in one New Jersey community is a signal. It's not the whole story. ISPs at this growth stage tend to stack builds. Parlin is likely one of several active or planned expansions in the region. If they're satisfied with the contractor on this job, that relationship carries forward.
