About the job

Requirements
  • Strong virtual reality and controller proficiency, such as VR gaming or similar real-time control experience.
  • Ability to maintain focus while operating in virtual reality for extended periods and follow detailed written or video instructions.
  • Comfort working hands-on with robotics equipment in a laboratory environment, with a safety-minded and detail-oriented approach.
  • Comfort using Linux and the command line, including running programs with arguments and checking logs.
  • Ability to debug routine issues and distinguish between environment or setup, software, and hardware problems.
  • Ability to write detailed bug reports, document failure modes, and participate in investigative efforts to diagnose and recover from issues quickly.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality, with the ability to work a fixed full-time morning or afternoon shift.
  • Basic technical literacy, including navigating computer tools, documenting work, and communicating clearly.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, and support physical workspace reset tasks, including lifting or moving items up to approximately 30 pounds and squatting or standing during resets.
Responsibilities
  • Collect high-quality robot training data by teleoperating robotic systems using virtual reality equipment and hand controllers, and repeatedly and consistently demonstrate manipulation tasks.
  • Meet daily expectations for data collection throughput, quality, and consistency, including correct task setup and complete metadata and notes.
  • Follow task specifications and standard operating procedures precisely, and maintain accurate records of experiment changes between sessions.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow laboratory safety procedures.
  • Support evaluations by running structured evaluation protocols with researchers and accurately reporting results and issues.
  • Troubleshoot and report robot hardware, software, and teleoperation-tooling issues; capture relevant logs and notes and escalate issues with clear reproduction steps.
  • Perform basic operational maintenance according to standard operating procedures, including workspace resets, calibration checks, battery swaps, and component swaps as required.
  • Review and annotate recordings for quality checks, labeling support, or spot audits.
  • Participate in process improvements to increase data collection efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve data quality.
  • Travel occasionally to domestic and international customer or partner sites to support on-site robot data collection, operate in new environments, coordinate with site contacts, and follow site-specific safety and security requirements.
  • Perform occasional weekend overtime data collection, limited to a maximum of one day per weekend, with flexible scheduling and time off during the week.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with robotics systems, laboratory work, automation, manufacturing or assembly, or other precision technical work.
  • Experience supporting structured experiments or evaluations with researchers or engineers.
  • Experience collecting teleoperation demonstration data using robots, simulators, or other real-time control systems.

About the company

Rhoda AI is building a two-armed humanoid robot designed as a general-purpose bimanual manipulation platform for industrial use. Its product centers on heavy-lifting and complex manipulation in factory and logistics environments, where many humanoid robots struggle. The robot combines dual arms with software and sensors that enable grasping, coordinating with both hands, and performing tasks that require strength and precision in industrial settings. Rhoda AI differentiates itself by targeting heavy-lift capabilities in robotics, a gap for many competitors, supported by a team with deep robotics and AI expertise and substantial funding. The company aims to bring commercially viable humanoid robots to industrial markets, competing with other players in factory automation and logistics robotics, with the goal of transforming how manual work is automated in manufacturing and related sectors.

What believers are saying

  • Rhoda raised $450 million in March 2026 at a $1.7 billion valuation.
  • Reuters said investors include Khosla Ventures, Temasek, Mayfield, Premji Invest, and Capricorn.
  • Rhoda says it already works with industrial partners across manufacturing and logistics.

What critics are saying

  • Tesla and Figure AI already dominate humanoid attention, hiring, and customer mindshare.
  • Internet-video training lacks guaranteed factory reliability; one failed pilot can stall deployments in 2026.
  • Without shipping revenue by 2027, Rhoda burns capital before customers trust its platform.

What makes Rhoda AI unique

  • Rhoda trains robots on millions of internet videos, not scarce teleoperation demos.
  • Jagdeep Singh, Gordon Wetzstein, and Vincent Clerc bring rare robotics, optics, and product depth.
  • Rhoda targets industrial heavy-lifting bimanual work, where dexterity and payload matter most.
