Requirements
  • Must be at least sixteen years of age.
  • Must have one year of experience working with children in a childcare setting and one year of customer service or public interaction experience.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain within two weeks of employment Community First Aid and Safety, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and Automated External Defibrillator certification.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of federal and state safety laws and regulations.
  • Skill in interpreting customer and facility needs and resolving customer service and public relations issues.
  • Skill in analyzing problems, providing alternatives, and identifying solutions in support of established goals.
  • Skill in responding to emergencies and determining corrective actions using available resources.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with City employees, facility lessees and guests, event sponsors and vendors, and the general public.
  • Effective, clear, and concise verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Ability to assist patrons.
  • Ability to work indoors in all weather conditions, with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals; sit, stand, bend, and reach for extended periods; swim, ride in or operate motorized or manually operated watercraft; and safely pull, push, lift, and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds.
  • May be required to work immediately before, during, or after an emergency or disaster.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in ensuring the delivery of high-quality and consistent programs and services to the community.
  • Maintain order and organization of the facility's childcare operations, programs, and processes.
  • Ensure a safe and hygienic environment in the childcare facility.
  • Respond to parents to fulfill their childcare service needs.
  • Prepare and help maintain facilities, including DAS REC and the New Braunfels Recreation Center, to ensure safe conditions and meet community needs in compliance with City strategic objectives, policies and procedures, and state and federal laws.
  • Plan, organize, and lead children in a range of activities and games.
  • Set up and clean during activity sessions to create a pleasant, attractive, and sanitary environment for participants.
  • Work outside the normal schedule for staff meetings, training, extended program hours, parent nights, or association events as required.
  • Monitor public use of the facility and equipment.
  • Perform basic janitorial tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
