Air Products to build lng-based ASU in Johor, strengthening Malaysia's industrial gas supply.

Air Products to build lng-based ASU in Johor, strengthening Malaysia's industrial gas supply. Oct 7, 2026 / Johor, Malaysia: Air Products is strengthening its industrial gas infrastructure in Malaysia with a new LNG-based Air Separation Unit (ASU) at the Pengerang LNG regasification terminal in Johor. The company has concluded a definitive agreement with PG Cold Energy 1 Sdn. Bhd. (PGCE1), a joint venture led by PETRONAS Gas Berhad through PG Energia Sdn. Bhd. and DIALOG Group Berhad through DIALOG Equity (Three) Sdn. Bhd. Under the agreement, Air Products will design, build and operate the new facility, which is expected to come onstream by early 2027. The ASU will produce more than 600 tonnes per day of liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon, expanding Air Products' ability to supply industrial gases to customers across Southern and Central Malaysia. The additional capacity will support growing demand from key sectors including electrical and electronics, petrochemicals, aerospace and manufacturing. A key feature of the project is its use of cold energy generated during LNG regasification. By recovering this otherwise available energy to liquefy air at low temperatures, the facility is designed to improve energy efficiency and reduce production-related emissions, offering customers a lower-emission pathway for their industrial gas requirements. The project also marks Air Products' fifth LNG-based ASU in Asia and reinforces its long-term commitment to Malaysia, where the company has operated since 1974. Its expanding network of production facilities, depots and pipeline infrastructure enables the company to serve major industrial clusters across the country. The new facility further strengthens the longstanding relationship between Air Products and PETRONAS Gas Berhad, while supporting Malaysia's evolving industrial ecosystem with reliable, energy-efficient industrial gas solutions.
