About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required, although four years of additional SSWE or equivalent experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for the degree.
  • At least seven years of experience as an SSWE or equivalent on a project focused on Radio Frequency, including experience with Fourier transforms, filtering, communications theory, digital modulation, error control coding, signal analysis tools such as WVT and DVT, and digital signal processing such as adaptive beamforming/filtering and demodulation.
  • Advanced understanding of the Linux operating system.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance signal processing software, including detectors, demodulators, and protocol processors.
  • Work individually or as part of a team; review and test software components for adherence to design requirements, document test results, and resolve software problem reports.
  • Use software development and design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
  • Provide input to software components of system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, using Commercial Off-the-shelf or Government Off-the-shelf solutions instead of new development, and analyzing and synthesizing requirements from system level to individual software components.
  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add features, correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
  • Debug existing software and correct defects.
  • Describe signal processing techniques and identify digital modulation techniques.
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to documentation and software development process standards.
  • Develop and implement algorithms to meet system performance and functional standards.
  • Assist in developing and executing test procedures for software components.
  • Write and review software and system documentation.
  • Develop software solutions and confer with users or system engineers.
  • Analyze systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigate problem areas.
  • Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process used on a project.
  • Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure design outcomes and consequences.
  • Use signal processing algorithms to convert a signal and design signal processing software based on sparse documentation.
  • Lead one or more software development teams and ensure work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process used on a project.
  • Design and implement complex signal processing algorithms subject to strict timing, system-resource, or interface constraints.
  • Perform quality control on products.
  • Write software using C++ and Java, and suggest languages as needed to solve problems.
  • Confer with system engineers and software engineers to derive software requirements and obtain information about project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • Develop and maintain a software framework to enable efficient data processing.
  • Identify the source of problems in a Radio Frequency processing system and associated systems in an enterprise architecture.
