About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, nuclear, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing or modeling plant processes in the power generation, petroleum, chemical, or similar industries.
  • Broad familiarity with engineering principles, with strong systems engineering and operations intuition.
  • Strong knowledge of plant thermodynamic cycles and process fluid modeling at equipment and plant levels.
  • Ability to communicate technical content and results verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own a plant process simulation model for the Aurora power plant to inform design, operations, and plant dynamics.
  • Generate and own a plant process simulation model in AVEVA Process Simulation, ASPEN/HYSYS, Siemens Flomaster, or a similar tool to model and create transient and steady-state plant performance results.
  • Iteratively model existing and future plant equipment and maintain the model as new design parameters and drawings are produced.
  • Establish automated plant model development to accelerate design decision-making and inform plant economics and operations.
  • Use equipment specifications and performance results to generate and implement detailed equipment component models.
  • Work in cross-disciplinary teams, including process engineering, instrumentation and control, and power generation and distribution teams.
  • Generate technical documentation and reports for regulatory filings and internal or external technical reports showing plant and equipment performance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience building power conversion system process simulation models.
  • Experience designing process systems in the power or chemical industries.

About the Company

Oklo

Designs and deploys advanced fission reactors

Oklo designs and deploys advanced fission power plants, with its Aurora reactor capable of producing up to 15 MW of electricity and running for about 10 years without refueling. It uses a fuel cycle that allows on-site recycling of spent fuel, enabling long-life operation and waste recycling. The company differentiates itself by using nuclear waste as fuel and building modular, licensed deployments for diverse customers beyond traditional large reactors. Its goal is to provide clean, reliable, and affordable energy globally by expanding access to safe, long-life nuclear power and recycling nuclear waste as part of its energy solution.
