About the job

Requirements
  • At least 6 years of experience in site reliability engineering, production engineering, or infrastructure-heavy backend roles, with hands-on ownership of production systems.
  • Strong production Google Cloud Platform experience, including Cloud Run, networking, and Identity and Access Management; hands-on Google Cloud experience will be assessed during the interview process.
  • Fluency with Terraform infrastructure as code, plus solid experience in continuous integration, continuous delivery, and deployment safety.
  • Strong observability and troubleshooting skills, including making systems debuggable, identifying root causes, and verifying fixes.
  • Ability to code in Go, Python, or a comparable language, with experience building maintainable operational tooling.
  • Experience leading production incident investigations and driving follow-up improvements that prevent recurrence.
  • Practical fluency with AI coding agents and ability to critically review, test, and validate their work; motivation to make AI-assisted engineering faster and more dependable.
  • Strong written English and the discipline to collaborate asynchronously with a distributed team.
Responsibilities
  • Build automated validation, progressive rollout, and recovery mechanisms that enable engineers and agents to make changes quickly with clear checks before and after production deployment.
  • Define and operationalize service level objectives, service level indicators, and error budgets, using them to guide delivery speed, stability, and reliability decisions.
  • Identify repetitive operational work and build reusable agent-driven workflows for alert triage, incident investigation, routine maintenance, and reporting; add verification and human approval where needed and measure the reduction in manual effort.
  • Improve logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting so failures are detected early and changes can be traced, investigated, and verified.
  • Improve runbooks, investigations, and blameless postmortems, and translate recurring problems into tests, safeguards, and automation.
  • Extend Terraform and delivery tooling to keep environments reproducible and changes reviewable as the platform grows.
  • Strengthen Google Cloud Platform infrastructure, networking, access controls, and capacity management while balancing performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Build maintainable tooling in Go, Python, or a comparable language, and use AI agents to accelerate investigation, implementation, testing, and documentation while verifying their outputs.
  • Apply engineering judgment to determine what to automate, how to verify it, when human approval is needed, and when a change should be stopped or rolled back.
Desired Qualifications
  • Kubernetes and Google Kubernetes Engine experience, including deploying, operating, debugging, and scaling containerized services.
  • Hands-on Datadog experience, including dashboards, monitors, logs, application performance monitoring, and distributed tracing.
  • Experience improving delivery speed and safety through progressive delivery, policy as code, and automated rollback.
  • Google Cloud Platform cost management or FinOps experience.
  • Security experience.
