Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgical team in providing safe, appropriate, and culturally aware patient care.
  • Help surgeons during surgery by passing instruments and other sterile supplies.
  • Prepare the operating room with necessary supplies.
  • Properly sterilize required instruments and supplies.
  • Serve as a surgical assistant as needed.
  • Assist with ordering and restocking operating room supplies and instruments.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of hospital operating room experience is preferred.

Adventist HealthCare Chief Medical Officer Patsy McNeil to depart for new role in Virginia. Published October 1, 2026 at 2:00PM Gaithersburg-based Adventist HealthCare announced that Patsy McNeil, MD, MBA, FACEP, Executive Vice President and System Chief Medical Officer, will leave the organization on November 6, 2026, to pursue a new professional opportunity with Riverside Health in Newport News, Virginia. McNeil has served as Adventist HealthCare's second-in-command, overseeing clinical operations, quality, patient safety, medical staff affairs and strategic healthcare transformation initiatives across the health system's hospitals, ambulatory care sites and physician offices. McNeil joined Adventist HealthCare in 2018 as Chief Medical Officer of Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center and went on to hold progressively senior leadership positions within the organization. During her tenure, McNeil helped lead several major systemwide initiatives. Adventist HealthCare became the only health system in Maryland to have all of its hospitals receive "A" grades from The Leapfrog Group in Spring 2026. She also oversaw the system's clinical response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which Adventist HealthCare said resulted in an inpatient COVID mortality rate of less than half the national average. According to Adventist HealthCare, McNeil's leadership also helped reduce medical staff turnover by nearly 20% and contributed to improvements in Maryland Quality Program performance, which went from a net loss to $16.8 million in revenue. Her work also focused on strengthening collaboration between physicians and executive leadership and improving physician engagement.
