  • Completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program approved by the ANCC or AANP, or qualification as a Physician Associate.
  • Current Delaware license as a Registered Nurse or Physician Associate.
  • National board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner through the ANCC or AANP, or qualification as a Physician Associate.
  • Certificate of Authority from the Delaware Board of Nursing as a certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate.
  • Valid prescriptive authority issued by the Delaware Board of Nursing or the Delaware State Medical Board.
  • A DEA license or eligibility to apply for a DEA number and license.
  • Valid Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support cards upon hire.
  • Certification for FCSS and completion of a formal airway course within one year of hire.
  • At least 2 years of required critical-care experience.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care as the Center's Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner according to established protocols, policies, procedures, and accepted standards of care.
  • Follow established nursing standards, procedures, and practices, and give specific patient-care directions to nursing and other staff.
  • Partner with the attending physician to provide night-shift medical and surgical management for the critical-care service.
  • Manage the comprehensive care of acutely and chronically critically ill or injured adult patients in collaboration with the intensivist physician on duty or on call.
  • Perform comprehensive airway management.
  • Perform invasive procedures including central-line placement, arterial-line placement, tube thoracostomy, and dialysis-catheter placement.
  • Select, implement, manage, and titrate vasoactive drugs, insulin infusions, sedation, and analgesia.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
