About the job

Requirements
  • At least 4 years of software engineering experience focused on tooling, data platforms, or full-stack web development, with senior-level ownership of systems or products others depend on.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience designing data pipelines and storage schemas, handling data quality and schema evolution, and using data or analytics tools such as Jupyter, Metabase, Looker, or similar business intelligence platforms.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting and automation for data pipelines, integrations, and internal tools.
  • Experience building web applications or customer-facing tools using modern frameworks such as Vue, React, or TypeScript.
  • Practical experience shipping or maintaining LLM-enabled systems and building supporting infrastructure such as evaluation pipelines, observability, or integrations, with understanding of non-determinism, quality and reliability challenges, and cost, latency, and model-performance tradeoffs.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate technical findings into clear insights for engineers, product managers, and customers.
  • A customer-first mindset, with attention to end-user experience and proactively seeking feedback to improve tools.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a technology-related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Project management skills and ability to lead and collaborate with varied stakeholders to move projects forward.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and autonomy, including independently identifying problems, proposing solutions, making pragmatic build-versus-buy and architectural decisions, and bringing stakeholders along in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with engineers and product managers to discover workflow bottlenecks, prioritize high-impact problems, and own solutions end-to-end from requirements and architecture through rollout and iteration.
  • Own the evaluation and observability layer for AI products, including automated and human review workflows, regression detection, and comparisons across models, prompts, and pipelines; make quality, cost, latency, usage, and customer outcomes visible and actionable.
  • Build usable internal applications and self-service tools for engineers and product managers to inspect AI results, investigate failures, and provide feedback; extend these capabilities into customer-facing experiences where useful.
  • Build and maintain scripts, reliable data pipelines, and integrations connecting internal systems, third-party services, LLMs, and Model Context Protocol tools, with attention to data quality, schema evolution, and customer data privacy.
  • Write clear documentation and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership and customers.
  • Champion code quality, testing, and reliability across the tooling stack through reviews, mentorship, and thoughtful design.
  • Build an internal evaluation workspace for the DRCY AI design review product to capture run configurations, inputs, outputs, and telemetry; compare model and prompt changes; and track quality, false positives, cost, and latency over time.
  • Develop review workflows for engineers and product managers to inspect AI-generated findings, apply scoring rubrics, override automated scores, and investigate regressions, with opportunities to surface relevant insights and feedback workflows to customers.
  • Create and maintain data pipelines aggregating evaluation results, customer feedback, and telemetry into a unified analytics layer.
  • Build scripting tools and automations to streamline the Generative AI team's development and testing workflows, such as batch evaluation runs and report generation.
  • Design and implement retrieval-augmented-generation-based information repositories and tooling to capture component data and domain knowledge for use by AI products.
  • Integrate with continuous integration and continuous delivery systems, including GitHub Actions, to surface AI insights in engineering workflows.
  • Partner with infrastructure to measure cache effectiveness, usage, and cost, and use those insights to improve AI workflow reliability and efficiency.
  • As a potential next step, contribute to core product features, such as integrating AI review findings and feedback into existing engineering workflows, in partnership with the product engineering team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Availability to work from flex offices in San Francisco or Boston on a hybrid basis 2–3 times per week; flexibility is offered for the right candidate.
  • Knowledge of Python, TypeScript, and SQL.
  • Knowledge of business analytics and data visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of LangChain, Pydantic AI, and LLM evaluation frameworks.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions development and continuous integration and continuous delivery.
  • Knowledge of common web architectures, APIs, and front-end frameworks such as Vue and React.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Langfuse, DataDog, or Grafana.
  • Project management and stakeholder communication experience.

About the company

AllSpice provides a subscription-based digital platform for asynchronous hardware design reviews, helping hardware teams review PCB designs, schematics, and manufacturing data without needing simultaneous meetings. The platform lets users upload designs, leave and track comments, and manage hardware-specific attributes such as development phases, ordering status, and manufacturing details. It integrates with project management tools like Jira so updates and approvals flow through the team in real time. Unlike traditional hardware review processes, AllSpice brings software-style collaboration to hardware development: it supports cross-discipline teams (electrical, mechanical, firmware) and offers centralized visibility across the design-to-manufacture lifecycle. The main goal is to make hardware development faster, more accurate, and more transparent, so products reach the market more efficiently.

What believers are saying

  • AllSpice raised $15 million in June 2025, bringing total funding to $25 million.
  • Its 2026 docs say DRCY runs in production for major hardware companies.
  • September 2026 blog evidence shows active customer momentum and public technical credibility.

What critics are saying

  • DRCY still cannot review PCB layouts and only checks one schematic at a time.
  • Flux.ai, Altium, Cadence, KiCad, and new AI PCB tools compress pricing.
  • A missed safety-critical error kills enterprise trust and freezes procurement across aerospace and defense.

What makes AllSpice unique

  • DRCY reviews native schematics against datasheets inline, with traceable evidence, in 2026.
  • AllSpice Actions automates ERC, DRC, BOM roll-ups, compliance history, and firmware retests.
  • Tools for Humanity used AllSpice for transparent Orb hardware reviews on September 4, 2026.

Two questions every hardware leader should answer before approving AI tools.

Two questions every hardware leader should answer before approving AI tools. At DesignCon this year, its CEO Valentina walked through how AllSpice thinks about AI tooling for hardware development. The talk covered eight specific opportunity areas where AI can move the needle, but the pattern Allspice, Inc. has seen working with Fortune 500 teams comes down to two questions. The companies getting results have answered both. The ones stuck in pilot hell haven't answered either. Every hardware engineering leader seems to have been asked to evaluate AI tools. Vendors are promising everything. Allspice, Inc. built DRCY, its AI agent for schematic review, because Allspice, Inc. kept seeing teams waste weeks on evaluations that were set up to fail. The technology wasn't the problem. They hadn't figured out if AI was the right tool in the first place. Here are the two questions Allspice, Inc.'d ask before you approve anything. AllSpice’s platform is the GitHub for electrical engineering teams

AllSpice's platform sits between existing workflow software. It allows hardware teams to collaborate on the types of documents they traditionally work in — documents that don't easily translate over Slack and email — like PCB files and electronic CAD files, both of which are used to design circuit boards. AllSpice's platform has landed customers such as Blue Origin and Bose and just raised a $15 million Series A round.
