Requirements
  • Three to five years of experience, preferably with a food sales and marketing agency, K-12 food service management, or a national food manufacturer.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of business strategy, pricing, data, and issues.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills while managing competing priorities and travel.
  • Clear professional communication skills in person, in writing, and by phone, including listening skills and the ability to explain information and provide solutions.
  • Ability to take initiative, manage a sales territory, and own customer and client interactions.
  • Ability to establish and nurture relationships with diverse clients and business partners.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, flexible schedule, and clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel daily throughout the assigned territory and occasionally stay overnight for industry events.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, customer relationship management systems, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other cloud-based solutions.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift case goods weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and schedule in-person sales calls with key business planning customers using the customer relationship management system, ensuring weekly and trimester call and presentation goals are achieved.
  • Conduct field sales activities, including customer appointments, taste testing events, and food shows at district and state School Nutrition Association levels.
  • Monitor and respond to emails and voicemails daily, addressing customer and operator inquiries within 48 hours.
  • Conduct timely follow-up calls with customers and sales leads to maintain engagement and drive sales opportunities.
  • Analyze school bids and develop customized strategic presentations for school district decision-makers that align with bid requirements and showcase company products.
  • Build and maintain relationships within the K-12 school segment, including school districts and distribution partners, to drive ongoing sales growth.
  • Expand knowledge of the K-12 segment, including market trends, product offerings, and customer needs.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and meetings as directed by K-12 leadership and sales management.
  • Educate other sales representatives about K-12 school products.
  • Input daily activity into the customer relationship management system and plan against priority customers and manufacturers.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with a food sales and marketing agency, K-12 food service management, or a national food manufacturer.
  • Peer mentoring in K-12 sales practices and knowledge transfer to team members.
