  • Ability to build trust with customer stakeholders, including vice presidents of operations at trucking companies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including translating customer conversations into clear problem statements and proposed solutions.
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site with customers regularly, especially early in the role.
  • Ability to handle support tickets, write documentation, build features, and present at quarterly business reviews according to customer needs.
  • Ability to instrument shipped work, track adoption, and use data to determine what to build next.
  • Ability to personally debug scale house integrations and prototype dispatcher workflows.
Responsibilities
  • Lead technical implementation for new customers, including application programming interface integrations, data mapping, workflow configuration, and scale house connectivity.
  • Build custom integrations, data pipelines, and automation for customers with complex requirements.
  • Debug and resolve technical issues in the field, often on the same day they surface.
  • Own the technical relationship with assigned accounts and serve as the primary technical contact when issues need to be resolved or new capabilities need to be built.

  • Prototype and validate solutions with customers before they become full product investments.
  • Provide structured and prioritized customer insights to Product and Engineering.
  • Build technical onboarding materials, application programming interface documentation, and integration guides for customers.
  • Develop self-service tools and content to reduce the need for hands-on support as the company scales.
  • Plan and facilitate quarterly business reviews with strategic accounts using data and insights.
  • Identify customer problems and solve them proactively to expand revenue and improve retention.
  • Help turn customer data into self-reinforcing product loops.
  • Own the technical health of the assigned customer portfolio.
  • Visit customer sites, ship customer-facing improvements based on field observations, take ownership of new customer implementations, build relationships with key users, and establish a view of technical debt and integration gaps.
  • Establish a repeatable pattern from customer meetings to shipped outcomes in under a week.
  • Contribute to product initiatives originating from field work and ship technical training content and integration guides used by customers.
  • Identify and influence expansion opportunities and reduce time-to-first-value for new implementations.
  • Improve customer adoption and satisfaction, connect customer needs with product development, trace production features to field insights, and help define the Forward Deployed Engineer playbook.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in construction technology, heavy civil, logistics, supply chain, or field services.
  • Familiarity with Rails, GraphQL, React, Intercom, Linear, PostHog, and Omni.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence or machine learning product development or leveraging large language models in customer-facing workflows, including AI-assisted integrations, automated onboarding, or intelligent ticket deflection.
  • Experience working at a Series A–C company with fewer than 50 people.
  • Experience with electronic ticketing, scale house systems, enterprise resource planning integrations, or Department of Transportation compliance.
  • Experience shipping a feature that originated from a single customer conversation and scaled across an entire book of business.

Tread.io provides a Transportation Management System (TMS) for construction materials logistics. Its software digitizes and streamlines how materials are bought, moved, and sold, letting users plan ahead, dispatch hundreds of drivers with one click, and receive real-time updates on their own fleet without extra hardware. The system acts as a single source of truth, reducing disputes and increasing transparency in the logistics process. Tread.io earns money through a subscription model and offers additional features sold separately, giving a flexible pricing structure. What sets Tread.io apart is its focus on the construction industry niche, its end-to-end approach to material logistics, and its emphasis on live fleet visibility and dispute elimination without requiring extra hardware. The company’s goal is to simplify and improve construction material logistics, making the process more efficient, transparent, and reliable for contractors, suppliers, and logistics providers.
