About the job

Requirements
  • Extensive experience, typically 7+ years, in software engineering and a proven track record delivering complex, scalable web applications.
  • Strong expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, and React, with the ability to reason across the stack from database to browser and continue using these technologies regularly.
  • Leadership experience as an Engineering Manager or team lead with direct reports, or as a senior tech lead who has mentored engineers, led projects, and shaped team practices.
  • A genuine desire to remain hands-on coding, as the role is designed to spend 60–80% of its time on hands-on work.
  • A passion for developing other engineers, providing honest feedback, and building a healthy, high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of full-stack and AI/ML engineers through coaching, regular one-on-ones, growth plans, and hiring, while shipping product every week.
  • Own delivery and technical quality of the team's roadmap, working with the Product Manager to plan, de-risk, and execute.
  • Contribute hands-on across the TypeScript stack, including React and Node.js, by designing features, reviewing pull requests, and tackling difficult problems.
  • Raise the team's technical bar through code reviews, architectural guidance, and best practices, including driving adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows.
  • Partner with engineering leadership on team topology, processes, and the technical direction of the platform.
  • Spend 60–80% of work time coding, reviewing, and shaping architecture alongside the team.
Desired Qualifications
  • A good understanding of building LLM-based applications or machine-learning algorithms; the team includes AI/ML engineers, and this knowledge helps, but expert-level knowledge is not required.
