Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field from an accredited institution with relevant coursework such as psychological assessment, clinical psychology, statistics, or neuroscience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of directly relevant applied experience treating individuals with developmental disabilities who have emotional or behavioral issues.
  • Must be at least 21 years old to meet licensure requirements.
  • A valid Indiana driver's license and a driving record that meets Damar's insurance-carrier eligibility requirements for positions requiring driving.
  • No felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect, or other disqualifying criminal convictions.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
  • Favorable completion and maintenance of Damar's background screening.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods and occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including a computer keyboard.
  • Ability to travel to other locations using private or commercial transportation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to exchange information.
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to client behaviors, staff instructions, safety concerns, and emergencies in an environment involving potentially aggressive, self-injurious, sexually maladaptive, elopement, or other unpredictable behaviors.
  • Regular and acceptable attendance, excluding approved absences and periods of leave.
  • Each essential function must be performed satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
  • Combine and evaluate information gathered from observation, collateral documentation, and interviews.
  • Establish rapport and maintain flexibility when interacting with clients.
  • Assist with and participate in evaluation clinics.
  • Request, receive, and organize previous mental health, medical, education, and other records for client assessments and evaluations.
  • Provide education to staff members as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention and crisis consultation as necessary.
  • Ensure that testing supplies are available and order additional supplies as needed.
  • Obtain or maintain CSAYP and knowledge of risk-assessment tools for sexual behavior problems in youth.
  • Prioritize duties consistently with organizational objectives and growth.
  • Use materials, equipment, and staff efficiently and effectively.
  • Act as a steward of Damar and client finances.
  • Serve as a member of Damar's interdisciplinary team responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating services.
  • Identify solutions to improve stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Complete thorough and concise case-management histories.
  • Ensure youth and families receive regular, timely, and comprehensive evaluations that include cultural and linguistic preferences and other cultural variables that may affect treatment and services.
  • Keep current with treatment technology, literature, practices, and regulations and ensure that Damar's clinical services meet best-practice standards.
  • Interact professionally with parents, school personnel, and medical personnel and coordinate clinical services among Damar, schools, clinics, and families as warranted.
  • Respect the culture, diversity, and rights of clients, their families, and the community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
