Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.

  • Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial or spiritual support needs.

IRVINE, Calif. - UCI Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation have completed the UCI Health - Irvine Rehabilitation Hospital, a 52-bed inpatient facility designed to expand access to specialized rehabilitation services in Orange County and Southern California. The 68,000-square-foot hospital was developed through a joint venture between the two health care organizations, with Taylor Design providing design services. The facility is intended for patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and other complex medical conditions requiring intensive inpatient rehabilitation. The hospital includes 52 private patient rooms, a specialized acquired brain injury unit, dialysis services and multidisciplinary therapy gyms equipped with rehabilitation technologies. Outdoor areas were also incorporated to support movement, therapy and social interaction. The project brings together UCI Health's academic health system resources and Lifepoint Rehabilitation's experience operating inpatient rehabilitation hospitals. Taylor Design said the planning process focused on the distinct operational and patient needs associated with post-acute rehabilitation care. "Projects like this require a deep understanding of both healthcare operations and patient experience," said Jennifer Timmons, Project Director at Taylor Design, according to a press release from Taylor Design. "Our team worked closely with the owner, operator, developer and builder to create a facility that supports advanced rehabilitation therapies while responding to the unique opportunities and constraints of the site." The design draws on the environment of Irvine and the surrounding region for its interior concept. References to walking trails, ranchlands, grasslands, coastal landscapes and foothills informed the selection of wallcoverings, tile and flooring. Neutral tones, warm wood finishes and blue and green accents were used to establish connections to natural settings and create restorative spaces for patients and staff. Taylor Design also worked with developer PMB and builder DPR Construction to coordinate the requirements of health care providers, facility operators, development teams and construction partners. The collaboration was intended to align clinical goals, operational requirements and design objectives throughout delivery of the project. Project partners also included Structural Affiliates International Inc. for structural engineering; Kimley-Horn for civil engineering and landscape; EDGE Consulting for electrical, low-voltage and security; SC Engineers for mechanical and plumbing; DGG for food service; Mazzetti for medical equipment; and AWC | West for specifications. September 17, 2026 Community Health Network and Lifepoint Behavioral Health, an operating division of Lifepoint Health, celebrated a major milestone today as they officially broke ground on Community Fairbanks Behavioral Health Hospital South. The future behavioral health hospital will be a 120-bed, free-standing facility designed to provide comprehensive treatment for complex mental health conditions. As the first of two planned hospitals developed through this joint venture in the greater Indianapolis area, the campus represents a major step forward in strengthening the region's healthcare continuum. Pedestrian advocates raise concerns about VHC Health proposal on S. Carlin Springs. Published August 14, 2026 at 3:45PM Arlington's Pedestrian Advisory Committee is voicing concerns about a proposal for a new behavioral health complex on S. Carlin Springs Road. Some of the concerns are related to the site itself, while others relate to broader existing challenges along S. Carlin Springs. Between Arlington Blvd and Columbia Pike, traffic on the road "is very heavy, sidewalks are very narrow, in some places they are overgrown and one place was dangerously broken," said Pedestrian Advisory Committee member Don Bennett, who briefed the panel at its Aug. 12 meeting. The 146-bed facility proposed by VHC Health and Lifepoint Health would be located at 601 S. Carlin Springs Road. The project went through a two-hour site-plan review committee (SPRC) vetting in May, with changes to the plan expected before a second SPRC meeting in the fall. If the proposed timeline holds, the project could be in front of the County Board for action by the end of the year. While the proposal itself can't be blamed for challenging pedestrian conditions along S. Carlin Springs Road, Bennett said there are "substantial pedestrian concerns" about it. "It's clear from a pedestrian perspective that this project is very car-friendly, or car-oriented," he said. He pointed to a "loop road" proposed to connect two entrances and exits to the parcel with S. Carlin Springs. Only one is currently proposed to have a traffic signal. Committee member Eric Goodman suggested a workaround involving the use of a pedestrian-activated HAWK (high-intensity activated crosswalk) signal to improve safety at the second intersection. At the committee meeting, other concerns regarded the need for improvements to bus stops along S. By Staff report - August 12, 2026 Loma Linda University Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, an operating division of Lifepoint Health, celebrated a major milestone today as they officially broke ground on the new Loma Linda University Rehabilitation Hospital, a free-standing hospital that will include 80 dedicated rehabilitation beds. "For three decades, our East Campus Hospital has provided comprehensive rehabilitation services to those recovering from life-altering conditions," said Anthony Hilliard, MD, president and CEO of Loma Linda University Health. "Today's groundbreaking allows us to nearly double our capacity and ensures we can continue meeting the growing needs of our community with the highest standard of care." Loma Linda University Rehabilitation Hospital will be built and operated via a joint venture partnership between Loma Linda University Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation and is anticipated to open in the summer of 2028. Upon completion, Loma Linda University Health will transition its existing inpatient rehabilitation unit to the new facility located at 11207 New Jersey Street in Redlands, California. A team of expert rehabilitation professionals will provide intensive nursing, physical, occupational and speech pathology services for adults recovering from conditions such as stroke, neurological disease, brain or spinal cord injury, and other debilitating illnesses or injuries. Specially designed to create a therapeutic environment for patients, this rehabilitation hospital will be equipped with leading-edge amenities, adaptive units, multidisciplinary therapy gymnasiums and more to encourage patient movement and activity.
