Requirements
  • Know and understand the use of inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gages, optical comparators, gage pins and gage blocks, sine blocks and setups, surface finish testers, coordinate measuring machines, and thread gages.
  • Understand basic geometric tolerancing and read and understand technical drawings.
  • Know current quality system standards such as ISO 9002 and/or TS 16949.
  • Manage multiple demands and use time-management skills.
  • Be proficient with computers, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Regularly lift and/or move 25–50 pounds.
  • Frequently reach, handle, and grasp, with occasional climbing of stairs, balancing, bending, crouching, fine manipulation, and feeling.
Responsibilities
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of purchased materials and manufactured parts.
  • Perform dimensional and/or functional inspections using technical expertise and inspection instrumentation to verify conformance with prints, process sheets, and specifications.
  • Provide inspection results for inclusion in Production Part Approval Process documentation.
  • Understand cosmetic part requirements based on specific customer standards.
  • Provide inspection support as needed by Manufacturing and Engineering Managers.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation by completing required paperwork, including in-process inspection records, traveler sign-offs, and first-piece inspection tags.
  • Provide basic training to operators or team leaders on first-piece and in-process inspection as required.
  • Provide continuous feedback to Production regarding quality-, engineering-, and manufacturing-related issues.
  • Suggest process improvements.
  • Perform part- and process-related internal audits.
  • Maintain the quality assurance laboratory and equipment in a clean, orderly condition.
  • Complete special projects and assignments.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience calibrating inspection and measuring equipment.
  • Previous auditing experience and skills.
  • Experience writing procedures and work instructions.
  • Experience with Production Part Approval Process documentation.
